China has invoked various more forms of data collection due to this outbreak and also vast amounts of extra monitoring including even developing facial recognition for people wearing face masks. This data is directly and immediately given to the police via a compulsory app.
I'll bet a lot of money all that stays in place once all this is over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course it will and no doubt even we'll lose even more of our social liberties. I'm not buying this one but and the overreaction is incredible. This is not the bubonic plague, it's just another variety of flu. Unless you have underlying health issues then this is unlikely to tickle you. In fact, I heard Tony Ferguson gave CO-VID 19 a cough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a bit more than the flu tbf and I don't feel it's an overreaction particularly. In fact it's a pandemic and still mutating I think plus highly contagious.
Without the measures put in place then who knows where we'd be. Plus actual flu is awful.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Flu isn't nice I agree, but let's put things into perspective, the death is still very small and flu killed around 300k people alone in America in 2018 FDA figures), still didn't see borders closed, mass quarantining and the cancellation of public events as a result of that.
Do you mind if I ask you a question please, if contracted this do you think you'll die or not?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope but my parents might and it might be me that gives it to them. It could also break the NHS so I feel a bit of social responsibility. Insert put it far better than me. Imagine being in America with no insurance and it bankrupts your family through medical bills.
People dying from other stuff doesn't mitigate further death to me and I consider people more than just a number.

Yeah the elderly (if that's what your parents are) and the unhealthy are the ones who will get this. However, just because you are elderly doesn't mean it will be fatal either. The deaths that have happened are due to underlying health issues and, please correct me if I am wrong here, there haven't been any deaths of people who are healthy, so as long as they're fit it shouldn't be a worry.
As for med insurance, yeah it's a really fecked up system they have and that scenario must be feckin awful. Which is why it's doubly important that Boris doesn't sell our NHS off to the yanks.

I think we do need to be careful but we can't afford hysteria either. We need people to think hygiene whilst also ensuring the vulnerable don't put themselves in situations where they may catch something.
Hopefully as the weather gets warmer we'll be better able to cope with any symptoms we may get.

The amount of people who contract it. It's not all about who will die directly from it. Look at the health care system in Italy and the impact it is having on availability of treatment to people sick from corona and other illnesses.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I provided number above for a similar virus in flu and that in 2018 killed far more people than what we are talking about here and we've not even discussed numbers for other countries yet. So it is my belief that the hysteria and overreaction is not justified. Yes we should we make sure we are hygienic, stop the spread, but isolating a whole country of 16 million people is a little over the top. Just my opinion.

Apparently, 14 per cent of patients develop "severe" symptoms, which roughly tallies with the Italian doctors' claims that 1 in every 10 needs intensive care. That is a hell of a lot of people essentially suffering from acute pneumonia.
Healthcare systems are not, and will not be, overwhelmed by healthy, younger people having a cough and a fever, but they might be if a large amount of the population is infected - as the numbers, the experts and the precedents in China and Italy warn us they might be - and 10 per cent of those are hospitalised.

I don't think many experts are banking on the warmer weather seriously affecting coronavirus itself, more that other seasonal illnesses will have died down so delaying the "peak" until, say, June, could ease pressure on the NHS.
But now there's talk of a peak within the next fortnight, whatever that means

I don't buy the link of 5G and the coronavirus, but a simple Google search reveals that there are huge concerns over the health effects of the same.

Once again. I'm not talking about direct deaths. 70% of the population dont get the flu at the same time with 1 in 10 needing serious treatment/ hospitalization. It's the impact on the health care system and the knock on effect with everything else that is the concern.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How many of this 1 in 10 recover ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lots - most, even. But like he said, it's the impact on healthcare systems. If the numbers of infected get as high as they are capable of doing, 1 in 10 being hospitalised isn't really sustainable.

I don't buy the link of 5G and the coronavirus, but a simple Google search reveals that there are huge concerns over the health effects of the same.

I’ve seen some crazy people on Facebook think it’s caused by 5G testing

I think huge numbers of people can be killed at the push of a button anyway...

It's the enemies of the US that seem to have got this the worst (China and Iran) with Italy being an anomaly...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So much information flying round at the minute that it's very difficult to separate the good from the bad. I read somewhere the other day, that this particular jouno had it on good authority that this originated in America first and not China. Either way, it's a crazy situation and I still think this is an overreaction but we'll see.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I dont really see how it can be an overreaction given the numbers involved and how contagious it is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What numbers are those?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The amount of people who contract it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
