I really cannot for the life of me understand this either. Only thing I can think is that the govt are trying to avoid adopting drastic measures if they can, because of the economic damage it will do, and the resulting negative media coverage.

PL just said they’re gonna suspend the weekend games now

Joking aside, the whole piecemeal way that the authorities have dealt with this so far is a joke

Some games cancelled, other played behind closed doors, others allowed to carry on as normal, just putting off the inevitable, all sport will be cancelled by next weekend

To be fair the risk of contamination at these sports event for players is far far lower than the risk of contamination going to the local supermarket and so on but nobody is trying to close that shat down.
