Void this season, give Liverpool a 22 point head start next season.
Sorted.

Adding the remaining fixtures into next season and turning the league into a 76 game season across 19-21 could work

Forest have taken 4 points off Leeds this season, which shows on paper that we’re probably better than them, but you couldn’t or wouldn’t consider promoting Forest above Leeds - you see there are too many unethical scenarios to deal with if you stay rewarding or punishing teams without them being allowed to challenge
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We took 6 points off man utd in 08/09 including skelpin them 4-1 in their backyard but still finished 4 points behind them. Football doesnt work like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Precisely, which is why you cannot award any team a title or promotion without them fulfilling their full criteria of matches 👍🏼
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Im quite satisfied that leeds, who are 11 points ahead of your forest having played 37 games have proven they are a better side

I said something similar a couple of times yesterday.

Cancel this season.

Everyone starts next season with their current points total (for teams with games in hand they get an extra 1 or 2 points depending on their average PPG).

Not perfect, but everyone would still have their current advantage/disadvantage.

Record points tallies all round though.

I tend to agree, as things stand, that this season should finish before the next one starts.

It's inconceivable that the Euros will go ahead now, but whatever decision is made about domestic leagues should be the same across Europe.

That is true, I was just highlighting a point that nothing can be taken for granted

And because yourselves or WBA are mathematically certain of promotion, you cannot or will not just be allowed fenteance to the PL without fulfilling all your games or until your are mathematically uncatchable 👍🏼

May as well start everyone on the points that they currently have going into a new season. Still opens up a can of worms but maybe the fairest thing you can do if scrapping the current league season.

The season will be allowed to finish with the Euros likely making way.

People suggesting that we should void the season off are genuinely not engaging their brains. The next season can’t start until this one finishes and unless we don’t play any football for over 6 months I think it will.

Even the World Cup may need to make way to accommodate the longer term changes that may be required - certainly international football will suffer

By the way, scientists in the US are already set to begin human trials on a vaccine, we are only a couple of months away from that in the UK, it could even be deployed to the most vulnerable this winter - who knows

The point im trying to highlight here is that people cannot hide their own agendas when putting their points across. You cant possibly sit there and tell me with a straight face you would have the same thoughts if forest were 11 points ahead of 3rd after 37 games?

My own personal thoughts are that all this chat is pointless. We dont know what will happen but personally i think every effort will be made to complete the season in some form or another, how they do that only the powers that be will know. My own teams situation is actually 1 of the more irrelevant, we are so fat ahead. But promotion, relegation, and euro places need to be determined, teams are not just going to take it on the chin that its "as you were" from last season given we have played through 3 quarters of this campaign.

Sandy predicted that the season will be scrapped, so Liverpool fans need not worry, the season will be back up and running in no time.

The only team that can mathematically catch Liverpool is Man City, and their manager & players have already conceded the title on a number on occasions, so I don't see any reason not to award the title to Liverpool due to the massive point gap.

The problem is the CL / Europa places and the relegation where multiple teams are still involved.

Would Liverpool want to win it that way? It will always be seen as a tainted title if they don't make it mathematically possible.

Too many variables starting the season again in a few weeks/months.

For example look at spurs with injuries to son and Kane. They are there for the taking. Could be valuable 3 points for a n other team. If they get fit and back in the team after the break then it changes the dynamic.

Also the break may require a preseason type arrangement to get players up to speed after a break

Just read this....

FA rules state that in the event of a season ending before time, standings will stay the same if 75% of games has been played. 75% of 38 is 28.5 and we’ve played 29 games.

Wonder what will happen if that’s true?! Rival fans can’t really say anything if we get the league title coz we’re so many points ahead. I can understand if City were 6pts behind or something
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arsenal, Man City, Sheffield United and Aston Villa have only played 73% of their games, so the season can't end

I was just the Forest/Leeds scenario as an example of how futile this situation is - if course Leeds have performed better than Forest overall this season - but the facts are, you cannot allow a team to be promoted or relegated on their current position alone, without them fulfilling the full quota of games - Leeds and WBA are still catchable (they probably won’t get caught, but they could) and in that basis alone, you just cannot award them promotion because the occupy the top 2 places at this point in time - it is just not plausible or ethical

Injuries are not a variable that should be taken into account. They are players in Spurs squad.

As Bats said, the biggest issue (especially as you go down the leagues) is players out of contract, loans ending, pre-contracts signed etc. Squads could be very different if the league re-starts in July or later.

I guess you could argue that over 75% of all 380 games have been played. Depends what they mean by it.

you cant look at injuries lol you were lucky in the first place they were out, theyre in the squad and every club should expect to face the strongest team opponents can put out so cant really complain about players getting fit because of it cost my club..

Going to be even more variables if it doesn't start again.

Teams would just have to accept opposition players coming back from injury. Not that much they can do about it. Who are they supposed to complain about it to?

Over 75% of Premier League games have been played though. 288/380 = 75.79%

I'm not even sure this 75% thing is real though and even if it is, it might not apply.
