Scheherazade is a wonderful piece of music, all 4 movements are crammed full of sumptuous melodies and endless variations on of the different themes he creates.

Greasy, a man after my own heart, apart from the football of course, but yes a truly inspirational piece of music, and also the conductor inspires as well,a big man in every sense, especially when you see what he has had to go through in his life, plus the man also speaks 5 or 6 languages and has composed many pieces of his own music!
When I look for inspiration, this is where I come to.

Slavenka Drakulic, who wrote, a month after the destruction of the 16th century Stari Most bridge:

'We expect people to die. We count on our own lives to end. The destruction of a monument to civilisation is something else. The bridge, with all its beauty and grace, was built to outlive us. It was an attempt to grasp eternity. Because it was the product of both individual creativity and collective experience, it transcended our individual destiny.'

Thank you Harlequin. An attempt to grasp eternity.

No worries dude...just saying you are wise to seek solace in music.

I am a recklessly sentimental old fool these days, and I don't mind saying it made me sob watching and listening - all those brilliant people working together to produce something beautiful. A very piquant contrast to reality of the human condition right now.

Also the exquisite slow movement (from 25mins) used to be the theme to 'The Railway Children' performed on Children's Hour on the radio when I was a lad. Very evocative.

Yes Mike ,truly inspirational, a wonderful orchestra, especially the violin soloist, and a work of art composition by Korsakov,as you say,it sets the blood and the mind aglow.

Also, what about the battle scene Yell, wonderful.

The conductor has also had an incredible life, quite apart from the 300 or more symphonies he has written ,he has conducted some of the best orchestras in the world, and all this whilst having had severe cancer and severe spinal injuries !

My favourite has always been the 3rd movement - "The young Prince and the young Princess"
I started replicating this inside Cakewalk Sonar at one point but the orchestral library I was using at the time didn't have all the required articulations, so I abandoned it.
Might have another at it - I've had EWQL Symphony Orchestra Platinum for a few years
Give me something to do while self isolating
