That was The Carpenters.
Realised my mistake earlier.
Thought Song of Life by leftfield was on Trainspotting.
It was played in another clubbing film I think...24 Hour Party People, perhaps.
Fooking awesome playing it right now, no class A or electric soup required.

My early concert memories are Croker mid eighties, seeing the then cool raw U2, backed by acts such as REM, Big Country, Squeeze.

I'd forgotten just how good a few tunes were.
Wide Open Space by Mansun is epic IMO and There She Goes by the La's a perfect bit of pop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wide Open Space is dreamy spiritual lift music.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Must admit I've been listening to it quite a bit. Never really realised the backing in the song before now. I think I like it as it reminds me of a time when I was 19 and going out every weekend and going on holiday with my friends. The lyrics are rather appropriate for now as well
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In the nineties we had the ceasefire in Belfast and this came in the middle of our crowd being into dance and trance, clubbing on E every weekend.
After the Stone Roses, Charlatans and Happy Mondays a few of us got into dance, and it was the best of times.
Sounds like you went through a similar nineties mini utopia , Diafol
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sounds great!
I had a few years from 96 to 99 where everything seemed possible and I truly grew into an adult (first full time job, going abroad, drinking, being allowed to vote etc). At that time saw the Manics, James, Stereophonics, Kula Shaker, Super Furries, Mansun etc as well as going to V97 and occasionally doing a few songs in my friend's band at small pub gigs. Great times if a little hazy because of drink!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like hippy sixties, if it's not hazy, you weren't there.
My memory is shot, but am into my fifties now lol.
