If you play for a club, it seems just and right for the higher paid to sacrifice some of their income temporarily to ensure that the lower-paid workers at that club don't lose their incomes or their jobs.

There seems to be selfish streak in the Premiership clubs.

I think if MPs are shaming footballers publicly to do this, MPs should lead by example.

As Rooney points out, what about sports stars who decide to live tax free abroad?

What about some sort of emergency mansion tax for the super well off to contribute?

Perfectly put Jonty , you won’t see them put their hands in their pockets, biggest bunch of parasites on the planet. The only example you will get from an MP, is how t fiddle their expenses, and say ‘sorry’ when they get caught, not sorry for doing it, sorry for getting caught. As the saying goes, ‘the last honest person to enter parliament was Guy Fawks’.

I'm all for well paid prem footballers taking a pay cut. But id demand the UK government identify every high wealth individual with an offshore account and hit them first. Failure to do so would concern me as to the privileged classes not shouldering the burden that typically working class footballers are.

How much are our Royal's handing back to the NHS?
https://fineartmultiple.com/blog/queen-royal-art-collection/ What about auctioning a few of these?

I've said this before but this was a ploy by Hancock to divert attention from the government's own incompetence in dealing with this crisis and their lack of help and support the NHS are getting.

And it seems I am right considering how this is all going. PL players are easy targets as they are at front and centre unlike many other sports and rich elites who are not in the spotlight at all.

Hancock has played a blinder with this.

This full lockdown chat with exercise banned is annoying me deeply. We could have halved the load on out NHS by locking down 4 days earlier. It would have likely been more than halved had we locked down the weekend of Cheltenham. Don't dare blame the minority of idiots for the subsequent need for a full lockdown.

wow, an amazingly political thread - agree with most of it. Now is the time for a proper reckoning.

I've said this before that this germ is a 'force majeure' to deflect from the banks going illiquid last September.
Perfect timing.

That isn't the game.
The game is for the rich to become wealthier at the continued expense of those who pay for it, that'll be 'us'.
All the while that most of 'us' don't see it then the game continues.
If politics truly mattered then we'd see and end to this 'game' but we haven't, the 'game' continues.
Those here who are continually obsessed with politics and believe that it matters are deluded.
