Had a feeling they'd name a stand after him. Well deserved and a very nice touch by your club
this is a wondeful touch by the club
Even amongst legends there is differing levels.
Naming a stand after him is more than appropriate as he was more than jus a player as he was such an important part of the club off the field too.
Dreading them naming the east stand though...
Great gesture
But I always have abit of sadness, that these things are doing afterwards.
Classy club as always Leeds
I was a little surprised with this one.
Once a stand is named that’s it forever I’m assuming.
Revie Charles and Hunter now. Whilst Hunter is very deserving clearly - is he in the same league as Revie and Charles?
Who gets the East Stand? Charlton? Gray? Giles? Clarke? Lorimer? Reaney? Cooper? Jones?
Is naming a stand more of an honour than a statue so is Hunter now recognised more than Bremner?
Maybe those that lived through the 60s and 70s can put me right?
Good comment...I would think a statue is more prestigious than naming a stand after a player.
In all honesty I'm not that keen on naming stands after players, think it's rather overdone these days...I think clubs could come up with better ideas to remember legendary players or coaches/managers.
For example depending on the status of legendary player and it's decided a bronze statue is a fitting tribute why not have it inside the ground?
You could locate it in a prominent position i.e. Over the players tunnel or higher...or high up on the kop looking over the pitch?
Arsenal have good tributes to their legends around their stadium.
I have to say I disagree with this strongly, and its an example of the club and ownership jumping the gun massively and simply not thinking. It can never be stated enough Norman Hunter's contribution to Leeds United and how great he was as a player, but it seems to be forgotten that he was just one member of a great team. Paul Madeley, a one club man who made just as much a contribution to that team and he died in even more tragic circumstances, yet has no stand or memorial. What about when Eddie Gray, Lorimer, Charlton when their time comes. They cannot all get stands. There should have been some kind of memorial for all the members of that side instead.
I think perhaps that the loss of Hunter was felt more keenly throughout the club staff as he was still actively involved on matchdays and with the club in general. No doubt all of the management staff including Radz were friends with him as he was a genuinely nice man.
Maybe that's inspired the rush to put his name on the stand? I'm not sure it was a wise move, but it's certainly fitting of Hunter's dedication to the club.

Really agree with that first bit, his passing was really painful.
It's sad to say, but we're going to lose more of that Revie team sooner rather than later, some lasting tribute to all of that are would be wonderful.

this Jonty, I'd love to see a film /documentary made to oppose the Dambed United.. from Revie's angle, how it felt being so indistructable, cover the footage from the southampton game what NJS mentioned yesterday. team talks, the reaction when we were cheated out of the European cup.
Amazing to see all that
Stands being named after players, what happens when the club has which will happen at some time new owners?..
Stands will be renamed, to the Old School, the Gelderd is still the Gelderd, the South Stand will remain the South Stand, but what will people say when the stands are renamed and their hero's names are removed?..
There are people/firms out there that'll pay for the rights to name the stands, but even then they won't take their rightful names away!..
