Totally agree but as we both agreed they really dont care about their staff in the main.
We had similar discussions on the politics thread where we were trying to establish if we worked for the same company if memory serves me right.

And what about Cheltenham Devonshire. It’s public knowledge the govt had all the science at that point and still allowed to go ahead?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, I'm with you on this. Mistakes were made and some can be put on the scientific advice and theories they were basing it on but at the same time there was definitely the balance of health & economy that was perhaps too far one way to begin with.
When you see the huge crowds at Cheltenham it beggars belief. I am not sure that the seriousness of this all had really sunk in at that point and the Govt failed in this respect. But i also believe people have to take responsibility for their own actions too.
You look at pictures of the packed tube after lock down and the 'essential travel' only advice, the busy public parks and beaches over the sunny weekends, even Spurs footballers training together. The action and advice is only as good as the behaviour of the masses and in this respect, i think some sections of the population have been irresponsible.

Eddie spaghetti, sorry to hear that mate. Tough times but I’m positive it will get better very soon. We won’t be in this s*** crisis for to long. I’m fortunate as not only am I currently working, but also I got a new job just before the lockdown started. I start my new non end of May. I went through a s** time last year when I was hospitalised and I come through stronger, you will to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My brother was due to start a new job during the lockdown but when the covid lock down came in they were really evasive about starting details etc, so he decided to stick where he was.
I’d urge caution to anyone moving jobs in the current climate.

The job I’m leaving and the job I’m going to all are emergency roles and classed as a key worker mate. Both jobs are running during this lockdown so I’ll be fine mate. Signed my contract and starting May 27th.
I got made redundant a day after I found out my mum was terminal. Company knew about it too, horrible bunch of cants.
In hindsight though, they did the best thing ever for me. I LOVE my job now. It’s true what they say, if you love your job you will never do a days work again.
Hope it works out for you too dude. You never know what’s around the corner.

Don't the company still have to pay taxes for the employee, so it does cost them something?
As far as I'm aware you and your employer both pay tax based on your earnings. I may be wrong.
