I think Utrecht and the teams in promotiin places will have a good case, but especially Utrecht will have a strong case IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Think it is easier (and fairer) to deny a team something that has not yet accomplished (promotion) than take away something from a club unfairly (top flight status).

Makes more sense to acknowledge and reward the accomplishments of the last 9 months than to pretend it didn't happen and and take those achievements away. All that does is reward teams who don't deserve to be rewarded.

Dutch league are holding current league positions.
How they choose to end their season is their business.
The team’s that merit CL/el football will get it.
I don’t see the big deal about this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do. You cant half abandon a season and avoid some places e.g. euro spots while not giving other places - champions/promotions. All Dutch teams should be banned from next seasons European competitions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can and the Dutch league will prove that. I don't think the Prem will nor Spain or Italy but more and more leagues will be cancelled in the coming weeks. To say it can't happen isnt true.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think they've tried to stick to the guidelines. I think there should be relegation though and if I was Utrecht I would be heading to court.
You think the leagues will be finished as late as September? Give your head a wobble.

They are going to court
Will be interesting to see how that develops.
One advantage to being behind is that Germany are trialling playing behind closed doors for us while other countries are testing other ways to finish the league.
By the time it's over we'll know what to do
My view is simple.
If there's no money in it then league club won't be bothered to play games.
The Dutch and Belgian leagues imo have looked at the government orders and both have decided no fans no football.
Germany may see value in it or may just be bloody German in their attitude thst it must be finished or they will pop a blood vessel at the thought. I don't know.
In Spain is there any money in it for the lower clubs? Will real or barca threaten them with even less tv money if thry dont finish? Who knows.
This really is about England though. When you break this down there are are different groupings. The west ham types are desperate to just be in next year's prem. They will be very happy to cancel. 100mil of tv money next year is worth more than the tv money from this year.
For the rest the revenue is serious but it's more about sky and bts pockets who are all being squeezed right now. They have already paid for the games but in the end it's 3months lost subs. I can't personally see the tv angle as hugely influential.
The UK government are the question. How soon will the Tories push the bavk to work button and how powerful will sport be in their drive.
I'm cynical about Johnson and his cronies and their real actual desire to protect public health. Fool me once and all that.
