why didnt they just cancel all bills, like mobile bills and everything
There's a lot of landlords in the House of Commons.
Yes, you're still getting 100% use of the proprty.
You shouldn't have agreed to the reduction of wages. Your employer should be paying you the other 20% if they can.
Do you work in an industry that had to close? Or are you laid off due to lack of work?
It's all negotiable depends on your position. Your landlord is unlikely to find a new renter in this climate so you can talk to your landlord if you like.
On other hand, you've been paid less but you also travel less, eat more at home so your income should be the same with 20% reduced wage on the balance

Very few people spend 20% of their net pay on travel to work and the difference between eating out and the cost of having the same meal at home?
I've been furloughed and my firm aren't topping up... But as above it will be a while before we can tell the affects.... For instance I've put £25 in the in 6 weeks.
We aren't paying childcare atm... Massive saving thou stressy. 🤣
We've taken a mortgage holiday just in case thou we intend to try and save each monthly payment.
But food bills are insane genuinely flabbergasted at how much my kids eat.
They could of done more to support rent and bills - I think people in London are being hit incredibly hard especially those for whom service charge and tips make up 30-50% of their wage, as tips aren’t covered in the furlough.
For me personally though 80% is as good as I could of asked for. With no travel or pubs I’m probably better off financially at the moment than I would be working on 100% wage.
Because of the boredom I'm eating more and drinking more. Because I'm not at work I'm smoking more. Not saving anything on travel because I walk the 40 minutes to and from work.
Yeah I get ya. It can be tough especially when so many people are having creative bursts at the moment. I haven’t got a talent for anything arty really and I imagine something like that would be great to help pass the time. Just about getting the routine that works for you though, easier to resist the booze now the weather is 5hite again too!
I have not been furloughed but 75% of my company has. Furlough pay is based on the corresponding period last year.my pay this time last year was £670, that includes ten hours overtime. 80% of that is £536. I am currently on a bare week, 40 hrs at £12.50 is £500. Colleagues of mine who have been furloughed are better off than me for doing feck all. Couldn't make it up.

Yet more "unintended consequences" of government intervention. The furlough scheme was poorly thought out and delivered like a fart.
