Apart from the fact its totally unfair to some clubs I'm surprised that anybody (other than desperate Liverpool fans) would want to watch football in neutral grounds with no fans?
--------
Using that logic you'll have to postpone all football until all mass gatherings are allowed which is probably over a year away.
Over which time the whole sport collapses.
Is that what you suggest we do?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's the thing with most people's arguments, they simply don't stack up.
'Void the league, its not worth the risk' in one breath, then 'let's start preparing for next season' in the next. 😂

How?
Experts agree this virus will be prevelant in this country to some extent, until around early spring 2021.
if they can make it safe for the players
let them play
better football behind closed doors than no football at all
People want this season voiding because its not worth the risk if one person getting this virus due to football, which in turn, would mean you won't be starting a new season, as this virus won't just disappear Saturday, the 8th of August.

You have to admit though that the window for restarting this season is getting smaller. It certainly is possible now but the planned return to training mid May for early June restart probably have a couple weeks wriggle room but beyond that it makes more sense to scrap and plan for next season.
There is a big difference between planning for a league restart in 5 weeks and planning for the new season in 17 weeks (12 weeks difference), so its not contradictory to consider planning for next season is possible.

In 17 weeks (start of September) we could have tested 10m people, internal new cases eliminated, lock down eased etc etc. Effective antibody testing, sophisticated Apps developed to reduce danger etc
These outcomes are far far more likely then than they are in 5 weeks (provisional restart date) Some progress can be made between now and early June but we'd still be in a dangerous phase of the virus

Peak or no peak is irrelevant.
People are saying this season should be ended/voided, whatever, because of the risk of people contracting covid 19.
That risk will be apparent, if you believe experts, till beyond the end of 2021.
So if your against a controlled end to this season, with safeguards in place, that involves multiple testing, players being quarantined etc, then that doesn't change because off an app, or even an antibody test.
People are trying to have it both ways, and you simply can't.

Weird watching some Spurs fans say things about fairness and credibility after playing in two different home stadiums in one season but still wanting their results to be accepted as credible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As a Spurs fan who hated Wembley (like most) I thought it was bang out of order that we were allowed to move to the new Lane for the last few home games.
I was amazed the Prem allowed it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well that season needs voiding then. It's the only fair way. Imagine all the teams that got a rise from the opportunity of playing at Wembley while other teams didn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haha, bit late.

==============================
I am showing the somewhat half ar5ed, and contrary comments that are being made in regard to the reasoning for voiding football in this country.
You can't argue the point that you care too much about one single person becoming ill because of a game of football, and then in the next breath talk about preparing for a new season when that threat, to whatever degree, will still be apparent.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its slightly different to that i believe.
People are saying it should be voided because currently and for the foreseeable future the risk is too high - look at the French Government decision to ban elite sport. They're not anti-LFC wums its a considered significant decision made by them.
Its debateable whether it is safe and right to restart in crica 5 weeks. I know non football fans, NHS workers like my wife ,who are disgusted at this thought when the crisis is hitting them so hard. A nurse and doctor died in their hospital in the last 2 weeks.
I explain its prudent to plan, it doesnt mean it will restart, it will be under constant review.
But if you are planning a restart, this has to be doen in the context of understanding how next season can work.
If like France elite sport is not safe until September at the earliest then like France you void the league and look to the future (next season). If sport is not possible in September then you rethink based on the advice at the time.
Anyone saying that if football is a threat to just one person then its too greater a risk is being unrealistic. I would say risks have to be controlled as much as possible which is more readily done in football and other sport (see latest F1 comments). But i think the restart also has to be considered in the wider context. It would be irresponsible to restart, even with strict controls, if the country is still in the midst of high deaths & new cases, or a second peak, as people suffer and die in large numbers. Football and football fans have to look beyond their own selfish desires when considering what is the RIGHT thing to do.
Finding it hard to see Football returning any time soon, just seen Aguero saying that players are scared to come back. Maybe the players safety should come first?

People want this season voiding because its not worth the risk if one person getting this virus due to football, which in turn, would mean you won't be starting a new season, as this virus won't just disappear Saturday, the 8th of August.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But we are still in the throws of the peak of this crisis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Peak or no peak is irrelevant.
