The answer is any club.

Any club can self-proclaim such a title.

A bit like marking your own homework.

Madrid have 10 european cups so they are the most successful club in the world

Its not even up for argument
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is winning the European cup automatically making them the most successful?

Isn’t there football outside Europe?

Europe is the centre of football. All the top players play there and the european cup is the hardest competition to win ergo real are the most succesful club in the world.

Successful = trophies won though and Madrid haven’t won the most trophies.

If the question was best club then you could use the metric of what competition clubs have won.

Ok for example so some wee club in Lithuania who have won over 100 trophys is more of an achievement than real Madrid who have won the European Cup 13 times and la liga 33 times would make them more successful yes?

Only a lunatic would rank the spl above la liga.

Rangers done well winning trophies before football became professional but that was before the first world war. Different game now.

I think its fairly obvious what should be decided what trophys make teams the most successful in the world. The leagues and competitions with the best players and hardest competition are the standard that most teams aspire too.Claiming to be the most successful team in the world having not won a European trophy is deluded and quite frankly laughable

Bit of confusion about the distinction between most successful and most prestigious.

In answer to the OP it's Real Madrid.
There is no argument, or not a valid one.

Rangers have won 54 domestic top-flight league titles more national titles than any other professional football club in the world. The club not only holds the record for the most league titles but also holds the world record for the most domestic trophies won, recognised by UEFA, winning 118 in all (including four lower division competitions, but not regional tournaments such as the Glasgow Cup or wartime competitions).

There's no confusion here, Rangers and their fans genuinely believe that they are the most successful team in the world.. I just can't get my head around that kind of delusion tbh

Miller whats the difference between the most successful football club and the most prestigious?
