Thing is though it’s kind of contradictory because a lot of people still died everyday before this, this is killing a lot of people but even before Covid-19 we were still having 1,500+ people a day in the UK die every single day so why should people not be allowed to have a day off the misery doom and gloom? It’s not like people are only just now dying and nobody would bat an eyelid or say anything before Covid-19.

Why is it only now people are highlighting death? Not you Sandy but I think that’s the thing before Covid-19 we were very sheltered and kind of obnoxious to death, a lot of people are acting like death has only been invented since March
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree lots of people die every day, but usually from natural causes or other underlying issues, that will only affect them, they do not pass on a virus, that may kill somebody else. And that is the problem. I have spent lots of times in care homes at various times over the last few years, visiting elderly relatives, and not once did I not feel safe. But you wouldn`t get me anywhere near a care home right now.

This virus is capable of spreading and killing very quickly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My Uncle was in a care home as he had Dimentia , he died last week from coronavirus , picked up a cough and died within a week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry to hear that Edward.

I didn’t really get the quarantine thing though, what if people are only coming to the UK on business for a few days, do they now all have to stay 14 days?

And agree it’s definitely 2 months to late should of been shut permanently in March
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They shouldn’t be coming over to do the business then really. What is so important that it has to be done in person, after travelling, that only takes like 48hrs?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly it, the 14 day quarantine is basically a hint that people shouldn't be flying in

I wouldn't be against banning commercial air travel completely tbh. It's horrendous for the environment.

A lot of Irish men that fought in the war never got any recognition over here for a long time. 50k alone in ww1.
However due to the large anti England sentiment in the early 20th century it was a dirty little secret that was swept under the carpet.
Thankfully that eventually changed and there is a monument in the garden of remembrance but unfortunately a lot of them had passed on by that time
----------------------------------------------------------------------

My grandad was in the Irish rifles in the First World War (he was English), but he lost his best friend, an Irishman, at the Somme

—————————

My great grandfather was the same. Died in action whilst in the Royal Fusiliers. They up until very recently never got any recognition.

But I am with Sandy on his OP. There is a time and a place - not ya certainly not the time to celebrate anything with so much death in our communities.

Honestly man i have had about enough of people bending the rules/advice just to suit their needs. Our neighbour here says she is wrapping her high risk husband in a bubble and then we drive by to see about 15 of them sat around the pergola having drinks. Not much of a bubble that. A majority of feckers walking trails and parks and not even having the decency to wear a mask so that the older folks don't have to feel so uncomfortable. s going to the store every other day like it is an activity to enjoy. Oscar the 2m rule is pointless in this case when they're all touching the same roppe and walking into each others exhaled breath.

I know what you mean mate. What can you do though eh. If you pipe up about it, you're called a killjoy who should relax a little more. If you don't pipe up and advise people to adhere to govt guidelines etc, you could be letting someone get affected by the virus. It's a lose lose situation when it comes to telling people to follow guidelines as people are too arrogant to listen to others and get offended, even if the advice is for their own benefit!

Sandy , really mate ? For someone who was born in and around just after the war time, you are not the most patriotic of people are you ? I don’t see the problem with it mate. We have had these debates already about coronavirus and you know my views. I don’t see what good does of people sitting inside miserable and depressed just because we are going through a pandemic. If we had this attitude, you might as well just give up on life now. What’s the point ? If people wanted to celebrate a defying moment in British history, what is wrong with it? Nobody congregated in thousands in parks. Everyone respected the social distancing rules. The quicker we slowly get the economy rolling and gradually get back to enjoying our lives, the bloody better it will be

Don’t really get your shop abuse thing Cinci, so I can’t go to the shop everyday to buy a paper and a baguette and whatever else I need? What should I do, bulk buy for a week/two and then get hate for bulk buying?

I think it’s getting to the point now where people are going OTT about this, there’s a line between taking it seriously for what it is and going OTT, and we are hitting OTT point now.

And Mr C, I agree fair point. Would also have been nice if the government had actually helped us by shutting borders 3 months like the majority of us have helped them by doing what we have to do and need to do. For every step forward we have all done they’ve put us a step backward by letting 2 million people in over the last few months from all over

I’m not anti government but what a bunch of khunts that annoys me, and the main government advisor breaking the lockdown so he could have a $hag with a married woman from a different house and god knows how many times it actually was obviously wasn’t just once

Donald you don't get it. I don't think people of your thinking ever will. Going out and having a party is fine in normal circumstances. During a pandemic like this, it isn't.

You could be directly responsible for 3 other people dying because if you had the the virus with no symptoms at all but passed it onto another 3 people who didn't have a strong enough immune system to cope with it. They will suffer and most probably die.

You'll never know though that it was you that passed it on. You'll go on to live your life knowing you survived whilst the families of those 3 other people have to live with the fact that their loved ones died.

People who don't take this seriously havent had anything happened to their loved ones yet. When it does happen, that's when the penny will drop.

Definitely. They should have shut down incoming flights far far easier and quarantined everyone who had symptoms straightaway. Now they're just talking about it doing it at the end of May! Another few weeks away. Madness.
