I reckon the victims family have been financially compensated. Morally the takeover should not happen but money talks and getting public forgiveness from the victims family will allow the takeover to happen.

Oh yes. They've definitely been financially compensated. According to their laws, if the family of the murdered forgive the killer then its legally binding on the killer to compensate the family.

This is in addition to the government filling up their bank accounts

Yes its pretty clear Saudi Arabia is trying to buy a better reputation as they try to move the economy away from oil reliance

Newcastle will join WWE in the external brands they have in their pocket

Newcastle fans shud vehemently protest against this takeover and threaten dire consequences.
There is more too life and the game than money.
I hope they show some pride and prevent this happening.

Unfortunately NUFC fans are soooo sick of Ashley a lot of them would sell their souls to the devil if they thought it would help them get rid of him.

Yes, it's likely there has been coercion as well as incentives. The family know better than anyone that it's the rulers are operating above the law and can be lethally dangerous to those who take a stance. I'm sure they have plenty more loved oned they could lose.

In short, the family's forgiveness and any sense of legal settlement should have no bearing on how the PL or humble football fans regard the Saudi government. It doesn't change the fact that the regime is murderous. In fact, it doesn't even address that, because those convicted are being portrayed as rogue elements.

Newcastle fans don't care, its they might give some lip service but that's it. They want rid of Ashley and they demand to be a top side. They're going to welcome the Saudis with open arms. Just look at City fans. Their fan base didn't put up any fuss.

according to Saudi laws, the court can drop all charges against the murderers if the the murdered persons family forgive the killer

=====

Is this true? I can't see any possible problems that could result from such a law...

There was a tweet from a Newcastle fan a while back saying along the lines of:

Aye, the Saudi’s may have killed a journalist -and treat women and homosexuals like second class citizens, but Ashley didn’t give King Kev any money for transfers and renamed the stadium, so who’s the real villain?

Unless we stop trading with Saudi (not happening) then why make an example of Newcastle or football in general ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree. Lots of fans seem to have suddenly developed a vested moral interest in where they think money is coming from. It’s an absolute rabbit hole, especially when you look at the dirty money this country was built and is still run on. The English game has been financially driven for decades now not sure why Newcastle are suddenly expected to make a stand against operating within the rules that our governing bodies have facilitated.
