Would be nice if Root would be a bit more positive with his declarations, just another few overs tonight, who knows how the pitch will behave when play restarts, could have had 5 tonight
How can you seriously be moaning
You are clearly, about Root not being positive enough.
Probably could've declared earlier, but equally there's a lot of merit in allowing a relatively new opener to push for his ton before calling it.
Fair enough against a average West Indies team, but you dont against likes of Aussies
Just like seeing a century and think there still would have been plenty of time to bowl them out
Nothing to moan about today.

We would do exactly the same against the Aussies. In fact, we would be even more likely to bat them out of the game than do a "positive declaration".
I can't remember too many times Root has delayed a declaration that has cost us the game.
The weather will probably intervene
BBC weather saying today's a wash out but tomorrow should be OK
Gives Broad a rest day before he comes tearing in again. What a couple of test matches he's had and what a career so far. Maybe we should drop him for the first test in every series!
At least England will get a second new ball half way through the afternoon session. If its required that is.
Definitely back England to take 8 wickets off this Windies side in a single cloudy day tomorrow.
Just need to make sure everyone holds on to any chances.
Sounds like there's a huge downpour currently going on so that could be that for the day.
The featured televised match of the final qualifying round of the world Snooker championship is a rather dull one between Matthew Selt and Kurt Maflin so massive shame no Cricket today.
Unsurprisingly play has been abandoned for the day.
Not rained for an hour and the light is pretty decent
Frustrating as it looks like it's meant to brighten up a bit for the evening. Probably could have played for a couple of hours from half 5 / 6? Looks like there isn't any rain forecast now until tomorrow mid afternoon so we should be able to kick off on time tomorrow. Shame there isn't any flexibility (that I'm aware of) to start earlier, especially as there's no fans to consider.
The issue is with that is when do you stop? 5/530?
You cant play more than the allotted time in a day. No need to start earlier in England not with the long days of light.
Ordinarily I would agree as you've got thousands of fans to think about so you can't keep them hanging around. However this is a unique situation where they could surely show some flexibility to try and complete a test match.
Yes we do have longer days but there should be 98 overs tomorrow and considering days 1 and 2 ended early due to bad light, it could be a factor. Hopefully it won't but this is where cricket could show some flexibility.
Well the forecast is looking okay for today and a few showers hopefully shouldn't cut much if any overs out of play. Windies need a couple of partnerships to give themselves any chance. I think if we got 5 full days then they probably would have been rolled out by tea knowing that there was no way the could bat 6 sessions with 8 wickets left. The fact that they only need to survive 3 gives them a bit more hope for a couple of batsmen to dig in.
It's crazy looking at the all time leading wicket takers in tests and seeing two of our current attack in 4th and 7th place.
