#1 shirt

Excellent keeper and glad we have him. As for the numbers, not fussed either way, a tribute to Ikeme was a nice gesture but no real view on how long it should be in place.

Is Ikeme 'better' now and clear or is it still an ongoing battle?

Rather odd that you should choose to suggest that the club and its keepers should choose to ditch their tribute to a teammate who battled a serious life threatening condition, on his birthday!

Carl is well and his leukaemia is in remission. He has said himself that he would have no problem with Rui taking the no 1 shirt but both he and Ruddy have said the 1 shirt is Ikeme's.

Goldi.. I admire your sentimentality towards Carl and I'm glad that he is in complete remission from his condition. But it's been almost 2 years since Carl went public and announced his recovery.

As I understand it, Rui Patrício left the number 1 jersey vacant in Ikeme's honour, choosing the 11 instead.

However, I just feel that Patricio has earned the right to wear the #1 shirt next season. He's by far the best 'keeper we've ever had.

Does it really matter what number shirt he has.
We know Rui is a great keeper, whether is our best ever who knows. The point is it is a tribute to Carl and if everyone is happy (except !! ) then that is how it is.

It's incredibly important. Wolfie currently has to pay for two digits on the back of his replica shirt. Rui taking number 1 would save him a bit of cash.

Patricio should wear #1.

He could always put a patch over one of the one's.

I’m sure Patricio couldn’t care less what number is on his shirt.

Whether anyone is the best ever is always a fairly meaningless debate because football has changed so much over the years. But in the 50s Bert Williams was considered by many the best keeper in the world and no keeper we have had since has been rated that highly

Patricio is one of the most underrated keepers in the league, if he was at one the media darling clubs he'd be lauded as world class. As it stands, Im quite happy for him to go under the radar, despite his undoubted class.

He does have his flaws mind you, he's not as commanding around his box as Ruddy for instance, there are times when you feel he holds back and tries to let defenders deal with situations which he could easily deal with if he just came out and and took charge. His positioning has been suspect at times although I think that's improved this season.

You've made him sound really rubbish.

Yeah hand me the rope, I'll pull down his statue.

I think there were flaws in Patricio's game last season, but I think he has been top drawer this season. Different gravy to Ruddy in my opinion

Looks like Enobakhare is about to join AEK Athens

Patricio is certainly a top top keeper and I agree good he is under the radar at the moment unlike Neves and Traore rumours to Liverpool, personally I think Jiminez is more important to us than those two but would want to keep both but if one had to go it would be Traore , it sounds like s loaf of German tourists will be descending upon you Gem, good luck with that!

Watch out Gem. Hide all your towels mate.
