If a winger can play on either wing and regularly switches and uses his left foot, how would you describe him / his role?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ambidextrous

And his role? --

His misunderstanding of the word sided explains so much of his confusion over the years.

It's those that cant decipher left / tight sided to mean the players preferred foot rather than his position.

Many United fans feel we need a right winger / forward. I agree and my preference would be we sign a left sided (footed) player who can cut in from the Right or switch to the Left and offer crosses.

If people cant decipher that without it written in crayon then they are the simpleton here.

So what you're saying is that because the thing you said is so stupid and non-sensical when taken at face value, we should have realised that you couldn't have meant what you said and instead just deciphered it ourselves instead of correcting you?

You can just redefine words.

Gabriele Marcotti here, one of the most respected sports journalists in the world saying and I quote:

'Not sure you can call Bale a left-sided player anymore anyway.'

So unless Gareth Bale's right foot became his stronger foot, then by left-sided Marcotti must mean the left side of the pitch, not his foot.

But wait no journalist, commentator or ex-player ever refers to a player in that way.

If only there was a simpler way of defining the side of a pitch and the dominant foot

I did mean what I said. It's just that some morons couldnt work out what a left sided right winger was.

Seems mad but maybe ‘sided’ for the side of the pitch and ‘footed’ for the feet? It’ll probably never catch on though

You have just proven my point.

The respected reporter is saying that you cant / shouldn't define versatile players capable of playing Left, Right or Centrally as simply a Left / Right sided players.

Left / Right sided is simply an extension of a person being Left / Right handed / footed.

How arrogant must one be to be told by everybody what something means and yet then make up your own definition and argue the contrary?

That's not rhetorical by the way. I find personality disorders fascinating.

If you want to argue that defining a player as only being capable of playing as one side is too narrow a definition, fine whatever. Totally different argument.

Claiming that left sided means left footed is literally wrong though.

You don't get to decided what words mean. They are already defined. 'left sided', for example already has a meaning. Literally not one person has agreed with your meaning.
