How many people actually went to the BLM protests last week?

If you weren't actually there, I'd advise you to shut your facking media d!ck sucking mouth. They were 99% peaceful, positive, humbling and empowering. Do not listen to the crap the media say about they were "marred". Absolute bs. And don't try compare it to the racists yesterday. Honestly

----------------------------------------------------------------------

No comparison.

Was that also your experience?

A city built on slavery, how ironic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole country was more or less built on slavery and class divide. Maybe itis because if this some people are not proud to be born here?

I can’t bear patriotism, it’s so meaningless.

Fascism, Nationalism and Patriotism, different stages of the same cancer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think someone on here once quoted Einstein "Nationalism is an infantile disease, it’s the measles of Mankind"

There is a bloke who I work with who always moans that St George's day is not celebrated more. He is abit of c0 ck. LOL
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nationalism is Scotland, Wales, Ireland is cool though, lol.

St Georges day goes with no fuss, because English people often feel comfortable just being themselves, without shouting look at me.

The Saints days across the UK and Ireland are celebrated and it's often a good party, and not offensive or exclusive.

Not feeling English or proud is fine if you wish, but being English is no crime or thing to feel guilty about.

Labour and left used to be patriotic and now leave that to Tories or far right to exploit, thus meaning Corbyn lost millions of English votes.

But, you know best and the red wall is thick and racist.

I’m not happy the media are portraying them as right wing racists.

Some are just defending our statues and fed up with the police not acting.

Yes a lot were probably racists etc but not all, if the Government and police did their job then none of this would be happening.

The Governments lack of action etc is starting to cause issues.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This has been happening since the 1930s, Mosley and his mob, the 1970s, National Front, 1980s, BMP. The racists are just using the statues as an excuse for their racism and violence.

BBC are weak and lazy and now accept anything the Far left or any random BLM supporter says...with no objective questioning.

To the point where Victoria Derbyshire let a called day NHS was racist and let black covid patients die.

Now, anyone defending anything British will be a far right thug.

Nobody has come out good in this. The fact you have got a poster on here condoning and actually applauding the looters shows you all you need to know about the mentality of some, hell bent on violence and destruction just to prove a point. Its not protesting against equality. It’s thuggery and mob rule. That included the thugs in last weeks BLM protest, who clearly used the movement to cause carnage and attack police officers. That includes the far right racist, who clearly used the statue issue as a way to spit hate and cause destruction on our streets. None of them have been put in a positive light. The far left are a horrible bunch of hypocrites and the far right are clearly racist. If anything, it’s made the country more divided now which isn’t a good thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good post Don.

BLM backers riot in France, Belgium, Berlin and Copenhagen too.

Far right out in France with White Lives Matter banner.

The far left hijacked BLM protests here and made it about attacking white British history, and so the Far Right join the street dance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Exactly mate. The far left will make people believe that they are for the cause and good people, but they are only out for one thing and that’s using a movement like BLM to showcase and platform their disgusting hatred and bile. We all the know the far right are racist filth, so it was no surprise they were going to use the peaceful protest yesterday as a way of spitting hatred as well. Both sides are horrendous mate. BLM protest last week hasn’t got any positive spin to it and neither has yesterdays protests.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don, the BLM are not Far Left mate, they just want an equal society and I don`t blame them. Lumping them in with the Far Right, who are Racist thugs is clearly wrong. Of course there will always be one or two bad ones in BLM, but there are also lots of really decent people. You cannot say the same for the thugs that were on the streets yesterday, EDL, BMP, Britain First are all thugs to their boots, and have no other agenda than to be intolerant of anybody that is not white.

There is a massive, massive difference between the Far Right and BLM.

posted on 14/6/20

Nope, doesn’t mean you’ve got a clue what you’re on about though, as evidenced above. “Liverpool is a major slave city”

What exactly in the contemporary sense invalidates Scousers rights to march for BLM in that tiny mind of yours?

Never said the BLM movement was wrong Sandy, but you can’t sit there and tell me they were seen in a positive light when a few amount of people used that BLM protest to attack police officers, including police women and horses, it was disgraceful. I don’t care what you believe in mate, that behaviour is thuggery. The far right did exactly the same thing and used that supposed peaceful protest to come out and spit their hatred and violence. The far left are exactly the same as the far right mate. The difference is, the far left will use the BLM as a mask to platform their bulls**.

On a positive note I guess I would rather see these thugs try and beat up armed policemen trained to deal with this, rather than their own wives.

Oh and Sandy, I’m not comparing the vast majority of BLM to the far right. I’m saying a lot of thugs used the BLM to showcase hatred and thuggery, just like the racist filth yesterday. They are exactly the same in my book, thugs.

BLM is doing an outstanding job overall. The amount of attention and genuine debate around it is very pleasing.

They've highlighted a huge issue, mostly peacefully. The fringe elements that use it as an opportunity for violence will always be apart of anything. But the overall message is certainly being heard.

Huge respect for Sterling and football in general for the way they are trying to promote the message.

How many slaves do we get through a year? Is this just specific to Liverpool?

“Liverpool IS a major slave city”

Think someone doesn’t know his tenses. Either that or you still live in the early 19th century, which would explain a lot.

“ #scouse not English in relation to BLM implies it was not us guvnor, those English did it.”

You’re the only one taking that implication. You don’t know what it actually means

Always the ones with hardly a black population/immigration who talk to most shiite about racism and immigration. Maybe stick to stuff that concerns NI instead of troubling yourself with stuff you haven’t got a clue about.

Suprise, surprise. A lot of a British majority, ie white privileged males, saying a minority of a minority rights group, creating or causing trouble means the BLM movement is nothing more than thuggery and trouble makers. Missing the point entirely. History. Rinse and repeat.

http://revealinghistories.org.uk/how-did-money-from-slavery-help-develop-greater-manchester.html

“ The port cities of Liverpool, London and Bristol are most often linked with the transatlantic slave trade. However, direct and indirect profits from slavery fuelled the Industrial Revolution in Greater Manchester.

Cotton was the most important commodity in the north west of England, particularly in developing the towns of Bolton, Oldham, Manchester and Rochdale. Much of the local profits came after the British abolished the slave trade in 1807 and finally abolished slavery in 1838. Cotton was supplied through the system of American slavery until 1865. As the Caribbean historian Eric Williams points out: ‘It was this tremendous dependence on the triangular trade that made Manchester'.

The wealth created primarily by cotton led to a boom in related industries including banking and industrial engineering to service the textile mills. The rapid growth of the textile industries in the north west of England changed the landscape as mills and warehouses were built across the region. It was said that:

‘There was not a village within 30 miles of Manchester on the Cheshire and Derbyshire side in which the manufacture of cotton was not carried on’.

The wealth generated through the transatlantic slave trade is reflected in the grand buildings of Manchester, especially in and around Mosley Street, Piccadilly and Portland Street as well as the many vast warehouses.

New transport links were also developed to allow the easy movement of raw cotton and processed goods within the region and to the port of Liverpool. The Bridgewater and Rochdale Canals and the Liverpool and Manchester Railway were most significant.

Some of the wealth from the region’s links to slavery has benefited the public as philanthropists, such as the Greg and the Lees families, donated money and artworks to local cultural institutions such as Manchester Art Gallery, Gallery Oldham and the Whitworth Art Gallery.”
