The Negativity is massively exagerated

Agree with the above. Now's not the time to panic and it may actually help not having a packed ER after a result like that. Towards the back end of last season, you could sense nerves, not just on the pitch.

Shake off and go again against Fulham.

I would be amazed if we didn’t make the same mistakes again. I would say on average we give the ball away twice every game this season In our own third - just normally the opposition dont smash 2 long range shots in.

Squad size nobody can argue with. Ridiculous how weak the bench looked.

Win against Fulham and it’s not over. Brentford beat West Brom and it would be 8 point cushion with 7 games left but they have the goal difference so effectively it’s 7. Still plenty of work needed.

Win our home games against Luton, Stoke, Barnsley and Charlton and then Brentford or Fulham must get 20 points from a possible 24 to pip us. win 6 draw 2 or win 7.. really? That doesn't count us picking up any points in the other 4 games.

We lost 1 game after 5 straight wins, the others in the race didn't do much better.
There is always over reaction to a loss but anyone following Leeds over the years knows these things happen, don't panic still 7 in front.
What result does everyone want on Friday ,Brentford v. WBA?

have to agree with this in the cold light of day Faith.

I was devestated yesterday, I've not felt like that after a loss for sometime I have to say.

I did log on to see some of the reactionary posts, a lot of rubbish been said, mind, I prob thought the ame just after the game.

pretty predictable the Donn and Lowfields come on straight after, I just shake my head in disbelief these are Leeds fans.

the comments by others, usually sane posters, talking about 'changing things' just as silly, why would you 'change' a formula that has us clearly one of, if not the best team in league?...

whilst I was massivly gutted, still am, we can get some perspective here, when we all agree that we played 'badly' thats badly for the current Leeds team.. which to be fair, wasn't badly in a sense of playing badly, we controlled the game.

sigh.. to be a Leeds fan eh

Yes exactly. The performance was well short of our best and yet we still played at a level most sides in this division would love to be able to hit.

Kebabs probably right about the mistakes, and like you say, they were still chances that would never normally lead to a goal. We have to keep playing this way and keep perspective. The points it has won us far outweigh the points it has cost us.

No need to change anything for Fulham. We don't really have the options to for a start, which is the only big problem. But there wasn't a huge amount wrong with our play. I definitely understand the calls to play Roberts upfront and Pablo as a 10. But I don't think Fulham are the side to do that against. Bamford will need to put pressure on them playing out from the back and disrupt their play. That was not possible against Cardiff because they just booted it clear every time. Different game against Fulham

Sorry but i am panicing

But thats because i am that type of person.

If i get a missed call from my lads school i am panicing thinking hes really hurt himself.

I just always expect worse case scenario.

The play off final is 4th August so i have booked the day off work in case we are in it.

Am 5hitting bricks. Sorry cant help it.

Faith.. I remember a lot of posters (even the doomers) when Bielsa took over were so impressed with this passing it around the back style they said mistakes will happen.

I admit its hard to take, but this formula has done us well.

I agree with some of what you are saying.

However, truth is our attacking, particularly our final ball was woeful.

Honestly I didnt see us scoring because we lacked an ability to get into scoring positions yesterday.

Call it rust if you want but bielsa has to figure out a way to get us in positions to score.

Without that we will struggle next week

Mattyp, agree with that.

I don't think those mistakes yesterday (both offensively and defensively) happen if we had match sharpness, which I thought we lacked. It all felt a bit turgid and unconnected. Hopefully they grow into it and we come out with twice the intensity against Fulham. Let us hope that his serves as a wake-up call for them.

Overall it was a good performance.

Dominated the game and got into good positions

Individually we was very poor.

Final ball was pub level

The Harrison shot blocked on the line by Bamford was very unlucky, Roberts had a great chance saved by keeper, Bamford was close to a couple.

We should have won the game and created good chances. performance wise we were the better team. How many games have we said the exact same thing though? Finishing throughout the team isn't good enough

I personally thought that Harrison has his worst game in a leeds shirt yesterday.

He was woefully bad.

Football fans are football fans. Win we’re great, lose we’re crap.

We certainly weren’t at our best but we’ve won a bunch of games playing no better than yesterday. We looked a bit rusty, slow pitch, more mistakes from the back which happens. Our performances are generally very consistent as are our strengths and weaknesses.

We’re soft defensively because we play ball players in defence.

We struggle to break sides down when we go a goal behind because they pack the defence and we’re a team of dwarves... and our striker is not the greatest in the air... well or the ground for that matter.

Nothing happened yesterday that we didn’t already know. From bielsa/a coaches perspective nothing new to worry him.

Fulham are a different challenge to Cardiff and it will be a very different game.

Final Ball was woeful. Final touch was. Mistakes at the back were.

But people saying we are no where near good enough after that might as well just wait for the result in the paper because they aren't watching the game.

Would much rather be in a position where we play well and are the much better side but let down by individuals than be relying on individuals to win us games.

Over the course of the season we will be much better off, and again if you want evidence to support that, look at the table.

Well I'm watching the game...I'm watching the last 9 games not knowing whether the teams form will be the form of the team before lockdown, winning 5 games on the trot, or whether the form some 3 months later will be the form of a middle of the table or the form of a team lower than middle table?

In practice it might as well be the start of a new season, no one knows yet how the form will pan out in the aftermath of lockdown...only time will tell when the games are played...the verdict on the team is still guesswork in my opinion.

Why are fans talking as if this is a continuation of the season before pandemic/lockdown?
Officially it is...but it's the form of the 9 game 'new season' that's now the important factor and we still await proof of how that will pan out?

I and many others were expecting that of all the teams, we'd be the ones coming back with the most energy, having had the benefit of Marcelo's lockdown fitness regime. However, as Hasselbaink pointed out on Sky, Cardiff were the ones with the higher energy levels. In some respects, we reverted to early- to mid-season form: crossing and set pieces were at Sunday league level (no exaggeration) and Bamford was way off form. Also we got rattled after going two down and totally lost our flow and passing ability. But there's good news: that was one match – I think the boys are going to treat that as a wake-up call and that we'll see a different team and attitude against Fulham.
C'mon Leeds! MOT

The negativity is completely fair, its as if last season didn't exist to some on here. We have 1 striker who is not that good, a tiny squad and a team that always manages to bottle it late on. Plenty of reasons to be negative or perhaps realistic. Lose to Fulham and we are in trouble.

We are bound to be worried after that performance. It is OK saying we are 7 points ahead of 3rd still but we have seen how quickly a lead like that can evaporate.
There were so many games like that towards the end of last season where we were the dominant side, pressing well but never actually troubling their goalie. We then lost to a sloppy goal.
As someone pointed out the woefully thin bench is also a concern as we have very little in the way of options when things need to be shaken up
I just hope and pray that we have learned from last season and we are not all having near heart failure in the last couple of games!

But we did trouble the goalie. He made a great save to Roberts & obviously Harrison should have put his chance away. Or even the clearance off the line in the first half.

And we didn’t press them well because there was no opportunity to press.

Proved yet again that our most important and
influential player by a country mile is Pablo.

If he's back next game or soon, I'm confident.

posted on 23/6/20

Pablo hasn’t played that well for 18 months
