I think I'd prefer us to go 4-2-3-1 to try and keep there attacking threat to a minimum with a team like this.
Kepa
James, Rudigier, Christiansen, Azpilicueta
Kante, Gilmour
Willian, Mount, Pulisic
Abraham
I would eat my hat if james and rlc play after how rusty they looked on sunday. James (not blaming him entirely as like i say rusty) probably put in one of the worst cameo appearances i've seen in all my time watching football definitely does not seem fit
Both looked well of the pace, James especially, can't afford to keep getting robbed of possession like he was. But an extra 4 days to sharpen up will probably make a big difference
"I think 5 at the back is probably nailed on as it seems to be the go to for big games."
Not necessarily true.
Against the top 2...433 has been deployed and we have given a very good account against them, especially Liverpool (the three times we've played them this season).
We remain the only side to better a Pep side in possession going toe to toe with City, over 90 minutes. Recorded lowest possession figure of 46% in over 400 matches managed by Pep to date...which is no mean feat, takes some doing.
Symbolic of how far we've come in terms of competing those type of matches in such a short space of time, to make it close matches.
On the starting lineup against City...would like to think Frank didn't play Bill against Villa to save him for bigger match against City, but I doubt it.
Jorgi returns to start I guess and Bill will start in the FA Cup against Leciester.
Then again I thought Loftus would be eased in from bench for Villa, but started so you just never know.
Tammy & Pulisic will have to start for the pace and pressing energy they will provide against City higher block.
Kepa
RJ AC Rudi Azpi/Emerson
Kante Jorginho Mount
Willian Tammy Pulisic
Maybe.
Zouma to partner Tomori (if fit) for FA Cup.
Best Leicester at the weekend and our away PL match against Liverpool on 18th July will be rescheduled.

Think one of jorginho or mount may miss out for kova, his ball retention is going to be needed against a side like City
Suspect we go 4-3-3
Ederson
Walker Fernandinho Laporte Mendy
Rodri DeBruyne Gundogan
Sterling Jesus Mahrez

Not the pattern I've noticed. Lampard's usage of formations has had an experimental feel to it this season (nothing wrong with that), and the deployment of a back 3 has been a bit wishy washy. For every Spurs game, where it was 100% the right decision, there's a Southampton, where it was 100% wrong.
vs. Guardiola I think Lampard's clocked onto the 433 being the best option (sample size being one game admittedly lol). As a player he saw how it can disrupt a Pep midfield carousel by morphing into a defensive bank of six, which suggests Jorginho/Kante in there. And Klopp's lessons demonstrate it's better than pressurize a Pep team than concede important areas of the pitch, which is easier to do with a 433 than any three at the back bar maybe a 352 with absolute machines at WB (which we don't have).
Basically if we don't play 433 I'll be stunned

My thinking is Frank will play them both.
Gilmour, Barkley and Kovacic midfield for the FA Cup rotational purposes (latter has started every FA Cup match thus far).
Down to me I'd throw Bill in against City.
City:
Kante Gilmour Kovacic
Mount Tammy Pulisic
Leicester:
Loftus Jorgi (c) Barkley
*Willian Girooo Cal
*Or Pedro

None of Jorginho, Kovacic or Gilmour start.
Frank throwing a curveball
Hope it works out.
