To be honest JP nothing new happened that we did not already know and the way Lampard was talking he is fully aware whats needed.
Basically Christensen has lapses of concentration and is forever loses a player. He has done this throughout he's career with us, and to be honest he has got older and still not improved, time to go.
Rudiger has not recaptured he's from from last season, I would play him but watch him very closely, we may need to change.
The left back position has been an issue for a good few seasons, we need Jam es back to hes best and switch Azpi there till season end.
As for Kepa, and some may not agree, for the disallowed goal he should have been at lest trying to dive over the ball and smother, across the players if he had to.
And can someone tell me what the hell he was doing for the equalizer at end of 1st half. He started to come without even checking it was clear, yes he was watching the ball but he started to come when the ball was nearly past him.
we have to get a keeper in and urgently, this guy is not going to cut the mustard.
But to be honest there were other players as well you could pick out.
This will not be a quick fix, I think you could be in 2 transfer windows looking at 5 maybe 6 players.
But as I said we know the issues and I am 100% sure Lampard does as well
Nothing happened we didn't already know. Azpl's terrible in the air, Christensen's reactions are a bit slow, Rudiger's got all the right faces but is brain dead, and Alonso doesn't have a defensive bone in his body. All three of WH's goals just happened to expose one or a combination of these weaknesses.
It just reiterated what all of us have said needs strengthening. LB is a must because we only have one, Alonso's NOT a LB. And if we want to push for the title a world class CB is necessary & Lampard will have to make a tough decision on the one who gets cut (for me, either Zouma or Rudiger).
To be honest, the only defenders I would keep are Azpilicueta, James, Rudiger and Tomori. We need at least two new TOP central defenders and a decent left back. We also need a decent holding player at the base of the midfield - a combination of Jorginho and Kante.

He's a very good shot stopper, that's the best part of his game.
It's command of the area he struggles with!
I'm slowly coming to the realisation that Rudiger is a liability.
If Tomori us fit, I'd try pairing him with Zouma next game personally, - and I'm not convinced by him either!
We have huge defensive problems!

I said it all through last season & nothing's changed. I agree that shot stopping is his main strength, but if there's even the sniff of a shot that might beat him the smart money says it WILL beat him! The good shot stoppers (not even great) don't give you this feeling.
As good of a deceive counter as it was, West Ham's third goal so depressing to watch slowly unfold. You knew Alonso lost the runner (of course), you knew Rudiger would show him the scoring angle (of course) and you knew Kepa wouldn't save it (of course). All three in that play were the underdogs, but there was a certainty that none of them would bail the other two out.

The 3rd goal last night will add to that but it wasn't him to blame for that goal.

Yeah you're right save percentage isn't a particularly useful for stat, it doesn't tell you anything about the difficult of shots a keeper is coming up against.
Kepa's save percentage is just so extremely bad though that it does tell you something
And for what its worth, the stats that do take into consideration the quality of shots faced still have kepa coming up terribly
But I know how it is, stats grrr go to a game my eyes tell me everything I need to know etc

Most of the goals Kepa concedes you could make a case for the defense failing him or the quality of shot against him, but there in lies my point. We spent 70mil on this guy, and in return (so far) we've got a keeper whose main strength you can call competent, has definitive weaknesses & is prone to an error.
And Christopher's right btw, you won't believe how much stats have evolved within the last decade, there is such a thing for keepers as "quality of shots faced" metrics
FSG owned Liverpool (sorry, Southampton B lol) is an example of how for better or worse stats are the future of football if you have people who know how to balance them. The fact they play like a data analysts' robotic creation these days isn't by accident
The whole back five looks dodgy, Kepa especially. You’ve conceded more than Arsenal and Spurs.
I don’t understand this Kepa being a good shot stopper stuff. He doesn’t save shots. He lets in so many easy goal because he doesn’t have a great reach and has weaker wrists than Dale Winton. The occasional top save doesn’t really change that.
I do think even if you keep the same back five you’ll concede few next season, though. Just because Ziyech and Werner will help you kill off teams earlier.
They won’t be near the top five with their current back five, though.

What!!!!
He's a very good shot stopper, that's the best part of his game.
It's command of the area he struggles with!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just because he's worse at one doesn't mean he is good at the other.
He is literally the only keeper in the league to not even have a 60% save percentage. He's woeful
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry but you're going to have to excuse me from thinking you're talking complete nonsense!
If you want to chat stats, go and have a word with Hafi - I'm so, the wrong bloke to talk to on that subject!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Right then, we'll just continue to disagree and excuse the other of not knowing what they're talking about and never get anywhere because all evidence is off the table
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well your 'Evidence' is %age of shots stopped.
The 3rd goal last night will add to that but it wasn't him to blame for that goal.
I strongly disagree with quoting 'Stats' - they can be made into anything you want them to.

Sorry DA, but there was nothing Kepa could do over the 3rd goal - he literally had no defence in front of him!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Most of the goals Kepa concedes you could make a case for the defense failing him or the quality of shot against him, but there in lies my point.
