1991/92 when Souness took over age was not an issue it was recruitment. We bought the likes of Paul Stewart, Dean Saunders, Mark Wright, Jimmy Carter and they were never up to the standard. Also criminal was to sell Peter Beardsley, Staunton and even McMahon.

Nah, not really.
The fact Liverpool's midfield is aging is more of an opportunity than a concern, imo. It's the unit that works; individually, I think even their own fans would admit that the players themselves can be improved upon. And Liverpool are almost certain to see a further boost in revenues over the two or three couple of years. Money shouldn't be that much of an issue.
Pinning your hopes of a decline on a single, post-lockdown sprint with the title already in the bag seems a bit desperate. Salah could never again hit the heights of a couple of years ago and still remain a handful. I know L'pool fans love Firming and understand the job he does as being undervalued by others, but if the did choose to reinforce there, it's unlikely that they'll have difficulty attracting a top-tier replacement with their current standing now finally matching their glittering history once more.
It's plain enough to see as a neutral that the onus is on others to catch up. Liverpool cannot stand still obviously, but they're in a much better place than their rivals and have more room for error than any of them.

It's true though. First things first, LFC have been deserving champions and are one of the best PL winning teams. That is fact. I'm not here on the windup. I would probably say LFC this year have been better than Chelsea from 2004-2006 at grinding out results. Klopp also has 3 different ways of winning.
1) Win by force, out play the opposition etc
2) Win by grinding it out
3) Win by counter attacking
I also think LFC fans are being arrogant and short sighted. Do you really think with the same core of players you'll be able to do this again in 18 months time?? You need new blood now.
How concerned are you that 30 years later, that's happening again?
=======================================
You raise an incredibly interesting set of issues.
But lets see if we can break the all time Premier League points total, actually receive the trophy as Premier League champions, play our last game, and then we can address the fragility of our current situation, as record breaking English, European, and World Champions compared to that of a team from 30 years ago. 😉

I think corona has really helped you here.
the delay of the afcon next season means you will keep salah and mane rather than lose them for 6-7 games, that may prove the difference next season.
have to believe city will spend big, clops probably won't so that gap will shrink, key difference I think will be injuries between you both, city have depth, Liverpool less so, but city lack depth in defense so if they address that I think they may wrestle it back
Mbappe will add some extra attacking threat.

No, we were never complacent. What happened was the murder of 96 fans by the police. Kenny wasn't sacked for being too complacent, he decided to leave because he couldn't take it anymore with what had happened to us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The point I am making is that in 1990, you didn't reinvest in the squad. Your team were getting on if you look back. Rush, Beardsley, Houghton, Hansen, and Whelan were all past their best.
You have to also remember that back in 1990, players couldn't go on until they were 33+ and maintain a top class standard like now.

Yeah the delay of AFCON suddenly makes not signing Werner not as important. Like I say I do think we will add a couple of new faces (rumours of Thiago for instance) but it's not a disaster if we don't.

Who is saying we won’t sign any players ffs man.

Champions.

But you should capitalize on that now or it might be a while before it happens again

Even if we make no signings this summer, which I doubt, we would still be well placed to win it again next season.

"slept on their success"
No, we were never complacent. What happened was the murder of 96 fans by the police. Kenny wasn't sacked for being too complacent, he decided to leave because he couldn't take it anymore with what had happened to us.
