VAR isnt the issue, its the officials in this league and how they chose to use it. Hiding behind the clear and obvious so not to re-ref the game from the on match official, just let him go to the monitor then? no that'd be too simple for riley and his prats.
VAR has improved the amount of decisions getting called correctly. But at the same time it just highlights the incompetence of officating in this league. Even with help they manage to fack it up so badly everyones baffled by VAR.
not helped by the issue of a lot of people not liking tight offsides, and for some strange reason want attackers to have advantages over defenders, and have to respect for offside traps or tight/high lines. Also the silly new handball rule no1 likes. And the inaccuracy of these offside lines n the drawing them on etc.
I know there's talk from Collina about FIFA bringing it's administration into the global fold - maybe that could solve it's woes!
---------
At this rate anything will be better than Mike Riley and co's plan. This has been a terrible season as a whole for football. Even Liverpool fans couldn't celebrate their league win, as great as it was for them.
Also its its first season, was always gonna be teething problems that was surely expected. Don't really have faith in our bunch of officials sorting those out though. Do you?

My view entirely. There's nothing wrong with the technology just the total ineptness of those using it.
VAR gave them the perfect opportunity tonight to overturn a wrong decision and only they can tell you why they declined to do so.
My other problem with it, is it's use to scrutinise every goal to find out some reason to disallow it, were no one would have thought to question it.

theyve got to stay close to the guidelines they set out from the start though, can't go changing them at diff points of the season.
or atleast you'd imagine.
VAR was always destined to be a disaster for the game and so it has proven.
For the handful of blatant incorrect decisions it corrects, it does so much more harm.
Why is VAR to blame for this? I'm sorry OP but are you dense?
VAR is a tool and not to blame for anything. VAR presented the officials with a chance to make the right decision and they still gave the decision to United regardless.
Blame the officials. They're doing the same thing they were doing pre VAR. Nearly every major VAR review involving United has gone in their favour.
Take away VAR and they'll be doing the same thing next season but without VAR you won't even know it's happening. Why blame VAR?

No you were being one of those obtuse people that has to try and look clever, 9 out of ten of which fall flat on their face and look a total buffoon - Unfortunately you're not the one out of ten.
And if you examine the acroynm VAR, you'll find it stands for Video ASSISTANT REFEREE, who I am lead to believe is a flesh and blood humanoid, not a robot (although you could be excused for thinking he was), therefore not the technological element of the system.
Perhaps you'd like to lobby the League and FA to have it renamed Video Camera Technology, to make you're lame attempt to look smart, a little more creditable than it actually was!

As for VAR, never wanted it, don't believe it can help and always argued against it on the old site.
I hate the fact that I don't feel I can celebrate a goal at a game anymore for fear it will be ruled out due to a lace being offside. It hasn't removed the controversy or arguments around decisions and the time added on fir it is frustrating also. Plus I believe it will lead to more controls at some point, further delays and santisation of the game.
As long as the game is played and officiated by humans there will be mistakes, and long may the game remain human, there are probably just as many teams that feel cheated by VAR as there would be those angry with ref decisions.
