I thought we played very poorly until the drinks break, better before half time, then well in the second half.
Several things it was nice to see:
- Greenwood. Full stop.
- Martial’s continuously improving hold up play and all-round game at nine. Still needs to be better in the box, but I said only at the start of this season I still didn’t see an out-and-out CF in him and he’s starting to prove me wrong.
- Starting out very poorly, but getting a grip on the game. Says something about the mindset of the players and is an important thing to be able to collectively do.
- The players following instructions *and* enjoying themselves. The bench audibly told them to slow the play down after about 40 mins. They did it (with Fernandes waving at other players to slow the game - great to see), did it well, and Greenwood effectively put the game to bed.

Nicest of all is to see us scoring goals and putting teams to the sword. It's been so rare that we've been able to do that over the last few years.
Martial is back to looking like Ole had just killed his mother when he was subbed off
You do feel now that when we are playing badly we do have it in us to score at any time and quickly move through the gears a bit more easily than we used to be able to do.
It didn't really work out like that last night because we got fortunate with the penalty and Greenwood's goal came at a crushing time for Villa and we sleepwalked our way through most of the first half but we soon took control after opening the scoring.
In the past we'd often get stuck in first gear and couldn't find a way to get out of it. We found it really difficult adding tempo at the drop of a hat, something that hopefully won't be a problem as time goes on under Ole.

Good. He's hungry.
What I especially liked about last night was that we were helped on our way to victory by a dodgy penalty, which then sent dozens of opposition fans into a raging frenzy for hours (even after a night's sleep some of them still seem to have the bile flowing freely through their veins).
Game of two halves. Second half much improved performance wise, we should have scored 5+.
Some of the link play / over lapping / movement / closing down were exceptional at times in the second half.

It isn’t quite as easy as people might think.
There are special players in good teams who given the right opportunities can drag their team on with them; but great teams are able to dig in together to change games.
It helps when your under the cosh and get a penalty when arguably your player could have been sent off or got a yellow card.

Got Man Utd to finish third. Should warn me a fair bit. So not so much a frenzy but people are understandably questioning referees and var at the minute. 3 huge rickets this week alone. That comes after a West Ham goal dissallowed against Chelsea and some dodgy officiating in the arsenal v Leicester game

but you're right to point out the other rickets, 3 decisions yesterday, 3 times VAR didn't overturn original decision, PL said that all 3 should have been overturned, but only one of those decisions had people frothing at the g@sh for hours and claiming corruption.
in truth i'm not sure the united penalty was even the worst decision yesterday, let alone of all time, and i was less baffled by that than by the goals ruled out for handball in the city and spurs matches last week.
It was still pretty bad. Was actually quite dangerous from Bruno. And yeah I need the money during this time tbf lol

we line the pockets of the refs, dodgy penalties take us to 3rd, and that lines your pockets...it's a very virtuous circle.
Tbf I wouldn’t be suprised if Utd were wanted in the cl. Can only generate more money for everyone involved during this pandemic

it's not an entirely ludicrous suggestion...not sure i'd view it as corruption though, more as a particularly acute version of big team favouritism.

We won despite not playing well, That impressed me to be honest, We've not done for the last couple of years.
............
Apart from just before the penalty decision, we completely dominated them after and we tore them apart. That is as well as I have seen us play. That was us playing really well and if we could finish the sitters, we would have scored 7.

How Bruno and AWB missed those headers is anyone’s guess, and Martial hitting the bar, like you say Haf, could/should have been 6
7 with the Pogba non penalty
You forgot about the Rashford one on one save as well.
