My major, in fact only gripe with Frank, is his tactics. They annoy me so much, I've stopped watching.
I believe we have great players for counter attacking and fast football, but we insist on a slow build up. Playing short passes from the back, sideways around the box, etc. It just doesn't suit our players.
Tammy will be gone soon enough and will light up another team because they will us him correctly. With us he is always slowing down waiting for the pass.
Our focus on possession is boring and counter productive.
Meh, just my opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No conflict for you then
I must admit, I like counter attacking football.
I loved us under Conte in his first season and Kante is at his best playing for a team that counter attacks, but i am open to any style if we play decent quality football and get results.
Lampard's done a good job, but he has benefitted from us and Arsenal being hopeless. Usually this points total wouldn't be enough for top 4 and questions would be asked.
You'd expect next season with your big signings you'd kick on.

That is the reason why Ii did not expect us to finish top 4. I did not expect Spurs to be so bad, although Arsenal did not surprise me tbh.

😂😂
I can't remember who is was we lost to, but an opposing manager told his team to not worry about Chelsea having possession, just let them have it. Sure enough they packed put there box with players and waited until we made a mistake with too many players involved in the build up, then boom, counter and score.
Is there an unwritten rule that we must wait for opposition to get organised before we shoot?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your question is befitting of your user name
I think overall he is got the squad roughly where it *should* be challenging. I agree with you that it is more frustrating when actually caught up in a top 4 battle, then when a lot of fans accept it may be where we end up at the start of the season though.
But still, I’m relatively actually quite content with how the season has gone already (unless we lose our last 4 games or something).
Maybe this is on a background of I don’t actually care that much about getting a CL place..I think getting a CL place I would care more about if this was an experienced and quality squad who had a good chance f winning it. But I think Europa league in a way ‘suits’ the squad and manager for where they’re at right now, for competition, European experience - I think a strong Europa league run is more beneficial for this team than getting CL and probably going out in round of 16.
So yeah. To try and summarise I’m quite content as I think we’re performing where we should be. And yeah while there’s question points, no alarm bells are ringing for me thus far. At the same time I’m also not entirely convinced Lampard will be the man to take us to the level of City/Liverpool yet, but for what we’re doing now he seems adequate enough. This season we’re in a top 4 fight, semi-finals FA Cup, probably got to where we should do in CL, and of course have finally assimilated some youth into the squad. There is a reasonable chance we still get top 4 / Europa and perhaps final of FA Cup.

agree with this, it's obviously more fun to play barca/madrid than sevilla, but in those years when you feel you really have no hope of winning it it's hard to get too excited (and it's not like chelsea (or united) haven't ever played those big teams, or won't play them again, so missing it for a year or two is no big deal).
and next year might not be such a bad time to miss the CL anyway, don't think uefa have announced the format for the competition, it's more than likely that a decent chunk of it will be BCD, so it won't quite have the usual razzle dazzle about it all.

I don't have a problem with him just think one season in the Championship should not be a qualification for the Chelsea job. He didn't improve on Derby's previous season finishing 6th again, went one better in the playoffs but he added 4 decent players to his squad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough
I got ridiculed on here around Christmas when I said Lampard’s start was no different to Emery’s
That being said I still think you’ll be in the CL next season. I reckon City’s ban will be upheld
now we won't be signing players that improve our team if we are not in the CL next season.

A bit of a difference in comparing an experienced manager to a novice manager though.
Kepa, Rudiger, Emerson, Alonso and AC all need to be replaced before we can ever think about challenging for the title again. No conflict on this one!
----------------------------------------------------------------
I'd add Zouma to that list as well.
The only one's I'd keep are Dave and James - and unfortunately they're both competing for the same place!

I think Zouma has been decent Brummie plus he gets a pass from me after what he did agst Ajax
I am conflicted because of kamikaze football played at the moment. Even Sarri managed to cop on towards the end of last season.
One great signing in defence can make all the difference. I thought we were a shambles in defence in Poch's first season with us and that had me worried. I think we had the worst defensive record in the whole of the top half despite finishing 5th. Then we signed Alderweireld and we had the best defence in the league for the next couple of seasons.
Coaching the defence is one part of it but you need to have quality there for it to work.
