Maybe risky going to a 3 at the back against such an average looking team, but a gamble worth taking as we need the points.

A back 3 who are all very used to playing this way, the outer CBs will keep an eye out for Lautaro who is a proven winner and the Benzema who in the last couple years now has further highlighted his World Class ability, the young cbs will guard against complacency. If we dominate the midfield battle like we should do to stop their forwards getting the ball, they have the power and guile to keep them at bay, take a second to get into position so they can intercept where and what move the two CFs are making. Bonucci will use his experience to keep them right and also to calm them down when they come under a little pressure, if in need he will help double up on one or the other if needed, juts take a step back behind either Romero or Bastoni. In possession don't mess about, just get it away, either play out to the wingbacks or long balls over the top for our quick front line to chase.

Cancelo and Mendes defensively will make a back 5, stop the wingers becoming a threat. they both have the pace to stop the wingers and power to push them wide, and away from trouble, attacking then get down the flanks quickly using Mbappe and Grealish to get round defenders, both sides of the pitch will cause trouble for Lesta defence. One twos, quick movement and always make themselves available either by driving passed Grealish/Mbappe or cut inside so they can even go for goal.

Bissouma is is tenacious, energetic and feisty, just what we need in our midfield, he is our deepest midfielder sitting just in front of the CB's he will shadow there AM and not allow him to control the game, must be aware of all that is around him, be in the right place at the right time and look to cover for defensive players moving forward, he has to impose himself early on the AM to make him wary of holding onto the ball too long, once on the ball look around, head up and pick the pass that will get us moving forward quickly always making himself for a return ball from a deeper angle as he spreads it from side to side then eventually forward he is always looking for the ball to start again if need be, can be out to the fullbacks or indeed a longer ball to the front three to take the opposition out of it as they are still high up the pitch. de Jong will help stop the run of play quicker to make our defenders jobs a lot easier, protect our defence as best as possible, in possession get it to the front 3/4 but also look for fullbacks as they move into space, keep it simple, he has a very good range of pass. Either pass and move(triangles) into space or look for a piercing through ball to our front three to drive onto. Can move forward to assist and look for balls coming out so he can either, shoot or whip straight back in, he will also look for piercing balls for the front 3 to drive onto and go for goal.

The front three are quick, powerful runners who are all good for goals, when we don't have the ball they drop back a bit to make up the numbers as opposition attack in a 541 formation, push into the faces of the opposition to force them into mistakes and hopefully in the end they lose the ball, Mbappe and Grealish will cause them problems drifting in an out, taking men on and getting in behind their fullbacks, this gives Haaland more time to find space as it will drag defenders out of position and he can beat any defender with power/pace, if their defence is on top then we can always go direct at times and fire early crosses especially from deep from the fullbacks, Grealish can move central to a no.10 positions and Mbappe making a 2 up top we must always make sure Haaland is well supported, so he can do what he does best especially wingers who at times will be right on his shoulder or alongside.
