c'mon town..
would be brilliant if both WBA and Brentford drop points. go to Derby, no pressure, title in the bag, then put them to sword on the pitch.
excellent
Jonty - ref the article.
what a year! - been testing times, lost legends, lost lives of fans, truly awful... but somehow within the despair, a new era dawns - once again, the pheonix rises from the ashes.
I could feel quite emotional actually !
On the serious side Jonty - I'll second Spanish's sentiments and yes there were tears in my my eyes before the match for Big Jack and at the final whistle, ( the latter a tad premature I grant you).
On the lighter side is there any truth in the rumour that you were in a man hug with your mate, a screaming Victor when Patrick was being interviewed?
I know I am biased, but I don't understand why Bobby Charlton received a knighthood, but Big Jack didn't. Jack achieved more during his footballing life.

I'm a little young for that era, so couldn't comment, but will be interesting to see what some of the older fans say, not just Leeds, fans of any club.
He had a good life, a long life, it’s not like he was taken early. I Understand the obituary type stuff but don’t get the massive Outpouring of alleged grief. I’ll celebrate his life and his achievements but Personally see no requirement to mourn
No idea why only Bobby and Hurst got knighted and the others didn’t.
They all should have been or none.
That’s not biased either.

It’s not about mourning it’s about respect - something that our ex Mayor of York, a Green Councillor hasn’t got.

Probably the image and perception that people have of these very different brothers, their character and personalities were very evident, plus Jack on the international scene was the manager of Eire, the southern Irish team.
An example of their very different characters was the 1965 FA Cup semi final at Hillsborough, a match I attended. The game was a draw 0 - 0 we won the replay with that Bremner headed goal, but lost the final to Liverpool.
It was a sunny, hot afternoon and the ref had to take the players off the field to calm down....it was like WW3 out there, fights broke out....Bremner and Crerand, Big Jack and Denis Law, Hunter and Stiles involved as well, Bobby Charlton tried to be the peacemaker, his brother and team mate constantly at it like fighting kocks! Eventually the ref brought the teams back onto the pitch, 15mins or so in the dressing rooms.
The teams behaved for the rest of the match but the tension you could feel....not a great football match but plenty of incidents!!
Both Jack and Bobby are among my favourite players of all time...Jack was more controversial with his black book of players he would "like to do!" and his tough image...he also played for that upstart team who hadn't read the script that only London and Manchester were allowed to win trophies, Leeds United.
Bobby Charlton was the classic player, the good guy who never fouled another player, great player imo.... very different players and characters.

I have never understood this either. Surely all the team should have got the knighthood or just the manager like what happened in the rugby.
Hopefully there'll be a statue or stand named after jack over here
