Is a 3 year contract too long for a 32 year old?
In answer to this
And he's not very good
He's like a winger version of firmino. Does a lot of donkey work, and retains the ball and links play, not much output in terms of G/A.
Doesnt he also want 200k a week? A lot of money for a 32 year old who has been inconsistent all his career.
Seems an odd signing for Arteta.
Doesn't look to be a player who is giving 100% all of the time and with his age, he can't really be classed as part of building for the future.
Barcelona are meant to be in talks with him
Willian is quality. Would take him all day long

Yeh know what you mean. Perhaps Arteta just wants experienced in key positions to help the young players until they find their feet. Guess he wants Auba, Willian, Luiz and Xhaka through the spine. Not a sexy signing but a free transfer so why not?

Also after Coutino and Partey for relative peanuts. Unlikely, i know, but get them all with Saliba coming and Mari and the side suddenly looks much stronger.
At first I was thinking no, but then I saw that he had 9 goals and 7 assists in PL this season which is solid and agree with Tu Meke with Firmino comparison, so if he doesn't demand enormous wages I think he would actually be good signing for free.

Yeah I saw that season before he only scored 3 goals. I bet if we went for him summer before everyone would be pleased with that, and now that he is free and "old" and had better season everyone's saying he is old. Football is not like 20 years ago, players can play longer, some players are on level till late 30s
So good enough for Barca but not an Arsenal team with the worst squad in 20 years?
You are welcome to him.
Willian just had his best season at Chelsea to date this season, but run his course at the club.
Was it last season against Barca where he ran them ragged in both legs?

Depends how you use him surely.
With Barca's fwd options he'd be going there as a squad player. He'd arguably be behind (for the front 3) Messi, Suarez, Griezmann, Dembele and Fati.
If Arsenal were to use him as experienced back up then yeah he's probably good enough. As a first team player it's surely very debatable.
Players incoming to replace him that provide much better cutting-edge in attacking third.
I'd have been alright with this if it was 3 yrs ago. But you have to question who exactly benefits when you give a 3 year, big wage contract to a 32 yr old.
