Morelos was terrific when he was on form.
Unfortunately he has been prone to long runs of great form followed by @10 games where he does heehaw. Add to that the suspensions and the trips to SA where he would either come back late or fat.
As much as we all loved the upsides of Morelos the downsides were massive and they happened in one form or another EVERY season he was with us.
We won nothing with Morelos as the main man.
He failed to convert a load of chances in the league cup final and missed a pen. He didn’t come back in time for the hearts SC game we lost. His form in the league after Christmas was terrible.
Fair enough if that was season 1 or season 2. But it was his third season with us.
I think SG made his mind up that Morelos could not be relied on to have us competing for the title or delivering a cup.
I am excited about the future without Morelos. It’s a year overdue IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lot of past tense there Hamish. You seem pretty convinced?
I will be disappointed if Morelos doesn’t go tbh.
It would be great if he stayed, did it for a full season with no issues and we bagged some silverware.
But the experiences of the past three seasons strongly suggest that isn’t going to happen.
We need to try something different.

Aye...seems like the right time to make a break. He can't change
The Rangers fans will be able to welcome their great leader, Douglas Ross, who will be running the line on Sunday.
Pfft disappointed if Morelos doesn’t go? You mad
Play him for the first half the season. Sell in January before he drops off again. Bed Itten and Roofe in nicely over first few months and they can pick up when he leaves.

Morelos currently looks like he could play all day without scoring. He doesn’t look sharp and he doesn’t look at it.
Maybe he will spring into life.
But he currently looks like a player who is mentally ready to go. Now seems as good a time as any to go our separate ways.

He did his job well on Saturday. More touches than he would usually. Came deep and made the goal.
His sharpness will come. Scored enough over the years to know that. Granted a big money offer and he’s offski but would be quite happy having Kent Morelos and Roofe in a front three.

As ever who knows how they will work out but i cannot fault the board for their support of Gerrard, he's been given plenty
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And isn’t that the issue? All that money and all those players in such a relatively short space of time with not a single trophy to show for it?
He has to get something this year or be unceremoniously booted out surely to Christ.

Bunch of fooking coonts the lot of them. See if you go to your employer and say 'alright if I take a second job?' chances are it is not particularly alright and they will have a whole bunch of questions about your commitment, energy, ability etc. He cannot do his main job as effectively if he is gallivanting round the continent doing his sideline. So, what should we do? I know, let's promote the coont! Frankly he should have so much on his mind as leader he is unlikely to be doing an effective job on the line either.
Yeah, yeah there are a whole bunch of people doing wee jobs before, after or both sides of their main jobs in an effort to make ends meet. Huge admiration for them not willing to just go on benefits though I suspect a lot of it is grey economy and their main job doesn't know?

Gerrard has had to pull together and build almost a full new squad. And done it for 20m, plus whatever is spent this year.
Given where we were it’s actually been fantastic value for money. Especially considering that it’s probably the same amount Celtic have spent on flops/reserves last couple year.
If he doesn’t win anything this year he’ll have to get the boot. And if he doesn’t I’d put it on his blindness to change a game or his only tactics. But we’ll at least have a squad that doesn’t need turned over again...

Hmmm. It can be dressed up any way anyone likes to date but the reality is that regardless of the circumstances, no OF manager would be given this amount of time with no trophies and an even bigger transfer kitty.
That aside I believe we think the same way about this season.

Only my opinion but neither SG nor NL will survive being the losing league manager after this season, in fact after the dust has settled one way or the other the winner, loser or both may move on anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure that Lennon would get the bullet. Bottom line is that he’d take any good player that would improve the squad but inevitably it’s the board that allows that to happen or not. In fact I’d think Lawwell would be the one under severe pressure.
