To be honest it didn't bother me about Owen going to United as much as it did when he left to go to Madrid. Maybe that's because he went from Madrid to Newcastle and then on to United.
He was, in my opinion, over his peak when he left, but I'm still grateful for his games and goals for us. I'll still regard him as one of our greats.

If City offered me a contract with loads of cash to keep goal for them, I would say yes.

You would be an idiot not to.

Anyway back the the OP. How has Schmeichel joining City (from Villa) tarnish his legacy as THE greatest goalkeeper of all time and playing for the biggest Club in the World during one of its most fruitful period.

Same goes for Ince.

For Schmeichel, I guess it was duo to him helping us win the treble and going on to say he was retiring straigh after the CL final. Just didn't feel right him then going on to play for our rivals. I didn't mention anything about it tarnishing his legacy especially after him being a major contributer to our 90's success. My opinion on Ince is in the OP...wasn't fussed.

I do not quite know how utd fans could begrudge schmichel his twilight years at a terrible city side.

not sure that the hell thats about

as for ince. I dont quite know how any utd fan can ignore Ince posing in a utd shirt while a west uam player then act shocked at anything he did after that. as for legend??
wtf.

None of us do apart from the OP. His profile should tell you he shouldn’t be taken seriously.

I'll leave the profile reading to your good self.

Sorry I thought the OP mentioned the words below....

Just gonna focus on the two, that being, Ince to Liverpool and Schmeichel joining City. To what extent did that tarnished their legacy in your eyes? That's if you feel their legacies where tarnished in the first place that is.

BTW, how and why did you become 'The Horse's Mouth" when it comes to Merlin?

Nothing new there, VC just can't help himself with his negative comments. You was okay 5 years back but man have you turned into a right miserable or man.

Okay as it seems you've worked out how to copy and past . Now show me exactly where I said his legacy had been tarnished from my point of view. I wasn't too happy about the switch and that was about it. Even the miserable one i.e VC is putting in more of an effort than you to trigger me into a argument. Either try harder or don't bother.

I honestly never ever had an issue with owen going to united. He had tried on at least 2 occasssions to get back to liverpool. The club didnt want him. If i remember correctly the teams he had offers from were west ham, hull maybe and united. I think id have chose united too.

Yeah. I suppose the only thing is, even if you didn't grow up supporting the club, you're bound to have an awareness of the rivalry between them and their rivals. It just depends on how much you care about that. Michael Owen almost strikes me as psychopathic in his lack of ability to empathise at times (he doesn't watch movies as they aren't real, for example), so it doesn't surprise me he didn't think twice about moving to us.

Yeah its a personal decision for anyone in that situation. Would have no issues with people saying they could never play for the rivals etc. But in that specific set of circumstances (tail end of my career with the other offers on the table being mid table teams) I think even with the rivalry and how much liverpool mean to me, id still struggle to turn down united and a chance to win a title knowing liverpool didnt want me. Thats why Ive always sympathised with owen on the flack he gets for that move.

Now torres on the other hand, that one stung!

Stay on topic. C'mon, at what point did I say Schmeichel or Ince's legacy was tarnished from my point of view? You accused me of saying such...now show me where exactly. You can't can you because I did make such a bold statement.

Hiding behind insults to save face now are we? "Glue" really? Grow up ffs.

Crikey, we've got one here...

1) You asked in the OP if it had tarnished their legacy. I replied, with a no.

2) You then went on to deny you had even mentioned their legacy in your OP.

3) But you clearly did.

4) Yet you still protest.

5) So, I ask you again, as Peter Kay would say ...

6) What are you on? Glue?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

"Jesus, are you that stupid? I'm not disputing the word legacy in my OP as it clearly there. I'm asking you again..at what point did I say their legacy was tarnished but yet again you either fail to understand the question or you simply can't answer it.

No issue with Owen going to United at all. He had tried to come back both times before he left his current club, Liverpool wanted him but Newcastle offered what Madrid wanted, Liverpool didn't match it. We didn't want him when he was at Newcastle but again he would have jumped at the chance to come back. So what is he supposed to do? Go with the best offer and United was most certainly the best offer.

Really liked Ince at Liverpool but we didn't have him in his prime.

--------------------
He's a strange one for sure - he clearly holds no affinity for us either.

I remember when BT released those studio reaction clips during the PSG game. Rio, Lineker and Hargreaves are jumping around the studio and Owen's sat there with his hands on his head looking visibly distraught.

Just found it incredibly odd.

Schmeichel screwed up big time and I'm sure he'd admit so if pressed.

OK stoopid.

Read the above VERY carefully.

Then VERY carefully read my posts in answer to your OP...

OK. Now you have done that. Explain to me two things.

1) What are you on? Glue?

2) How and why are you 'the horses mouth' on all things Gordon Hill.
