You may get fourth but would be surprised if you get 75-80 points

I had us top ten at best....hugely pleased with CL...the cup would've been nice

Expecting better next year now... depending on who we have in defence

Top4 and shore up our defence and keeper.

defensive signings will play a huge part in my expectations. That and some sort of semblance of organization during set pieces.

We have to improve the points total if we are really going for the outlay that is rumoured

75 points minimum in league
Show a statistical and visible improvement in defence
And probably get to quarter finals CL, and good runs I’m Cup competitions

This. Although u would say 80 points.

With three new first team attacking options in the team at once, ideally half a new XI with further buys, that's a big ask. You're expecting them to gel very quickly to achieve 80+

Seems a bit premature to place any expectations on points, places and cups at this stage. The make up of the competition, and the squad, can radically change by the time you know who you’ll have in the group stages of the CL.

Football’s not that black and white. Even if £250m is spent on good players, replacing half a team and getting them to gel to the tune of 80+ points is difficult. Especially when the business the other clubs do hasn’t been established.

You’d be up there with the title contenders in most seasons, or not that far off. It’s not often three teams get 80+ in a season - City and Liverpool certainly will - and I don’t think it’s ever been done by four in a season.

Not saying it’s not possible. But at this stage it’s difficult to really make that a realistic target given how poor the team has already been, and without knowing who you’ll be replacing half your starting eleven with.

Chelsea didn’t even manage that in 03/04, when they blew all their rivals out of the water in the transfer market. I think it’s more difficult to do than you make out, particularly from your starting point.

I can nit pick some of the OP's minimum targets, but in general I agree.

Significant improvement to defence shd be no1 priority and if that is achieved along with the signing of Havertz then I will bw disdapointed with anything less than 78 points and a credible CL run. Trophies I am not so bothered about, but if course would be welcome.

There is no correlation to City and Liverpool in getting 80 points. That is up to the individual club. We want to be challenging for the title in the 2021/22 season and therefore want a good platform this coming season

It does as it’s 12 points for you to take off them. If they perform at the consistently high levels we know they are capable of, it makes it more difficult for Chelsea to reach the 80+ total. Same with us.

Obviously you want a good platform to build off. I’m saying it’s a bit difficult to make points total predictions at this time, particularly on the basis of how much is spent.

If you massively change your side, and others spend/manage their squad well, then dropping points often is to be expected.

Genuinely the reasons you lost are why I expext 80 points.

Also CL quarters is a non negotiable for me. Been much too long.

All three attacking players come with debate surrounding their best positions, Havertz alone has people saying he can play four equally well, this stuff's gunna take a bit of time (I give it half a year) to figure out tactically. We should expect 40pts from the 19 games in the second half of the season, I'll agree to that.

Why would you assume we would drop 12pts to City and Liverpool? There is 114pts up for grabs, it is that simple.

I’m not assuming you will, but the strength of those team obviously does impact on the points total that Chelsea will get as they can take between 12 and 0 from them games. And that’s just two team, how others address their issues impacts things as well. Points totals are not totally dependent on what one team does in the transfer market, there are many factors to account for. That’s why I think it’s difficult to really have expectations for 80+ at this stage.

City and Liverpool are the only teams that can, in my opinion, as they’re the only two in the league with the proven quality and consistency to achieve it, regardless of others.

Well i stated that my expectations for 80 (actually 78) points were based on us significantly improving our defence and signing Havertz. If those two things happen then 78pts minimum is very realistic.

Tend to agree with Imran. There are a lot of unknowns at this stage. We don’t know yet a) if other teams around Chelsea would strengthen this summer, b) how well the new additions will adapt and other factors such as injuries etc... all the above variable, will have an impact on the campaigns next season.

From the board point of view, there will objectives set at the start of the season.
