This age thing is a joke. He is younger than Messi. If we were buying Messi would you say nah he is old. Point is Willian's form hasn't dropped, as a matter of fact his form is better than season before. Also Auba is one year younger. Is Auba old then? This signing is a no brainer.

Guys.

Did we really let Salah and De Bruyne go?

I thought Lukaku was a mistake,, but those two.ffs

You lot can afford that madness because Roman's happy to bung you 200 mil to cover it. I wonder if your transfer team even cares what they do. Hell they probably ring ours every window with City and Utd's, just to takes the P's giving our transfer team directions to the poundshop

Not a big fan of signing a 32 year old to rebuilt a squad.

But let's see how it pans out for us.

It's that Agent Kia. For every Martinelli, he's bought us a Luiz
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You say that as if its bad thing. Where would we be without Luiz right now? Look at our injury record and the performance of Holding, Mustafi. He is been our most consistent performer apart from 2 or 3 really bad games. We won a trophy and qualified for the Europa.

I think it was more to fight for pensioners rights and Willian is actually incidental

He also never gets injured so not really worried about his age. watch how he gets a long term injury in his first season with us though

Well if you don't get the point, it's your problem.

Cech caused us to get 5th? Luiz caused us to get 8th? You really need to learn to understand football more.

Has played 36 prem games season gone and 32 in the season before

Hes a top player whos clearly looks like hes got a few years at this level in him still. His stats are decent and he works his backside off everytime ive seen him. Hes got ability to win games too. Wages will be high but he can do a good job, i wouldnt have minded us taking him at Liverpool for a few years.

I'm not a fan of Willian and never have been.

He's not consistent, can sometimes go missing in games, is very frustrating when it comes to crossing/set-pieces and his efficiency in the final third is questionable.

He's never scored more than 9 league goals in a season.

Whilst he may be useful in a counter attack or carrying the ball up the pitch/retaining possession, I don't believe he's the type of player who you can rely on when the chips are down or if you need a player to provide some inspiration.

Giving him a 3-year contract when he's 32 isn't a smart move IMO.

When have we ever signed a player from Chelsea that has been a success? Usually it's one of our players going to them, which betters their existing side, and they end up winning significant bits of silverware.

I don't think he will be a success with us, but I want (and hope) to be proven wrong.

Luiz = 1 FA Cup vs Giroud = 1 FA Cup.

I think its even. Cech filled in for a while. Didn't hurt us or won us anything.

(Europa Cup for Giroud)

Giroud has won the Europa League too. Thought I get why you'd want to forget that

Luiz has been OK overall, but it's a stretch to call him a 'success'.

Cech wasn't great. Gallas wasn't either. Benayoun did a job for a season, but was never long term.

Both Cole and Fabregas won the 'big' trophies and were key parts of Chelsea's success.

Samir different eras. Not really fair to compare the past. Not very relevant to whether Willian will be a success.

But seriously where would be without Luiz? Mari, Mustafi and Chambers serious injuries at crucial times. Sok check out and Holding wobbling after injury. Would we have won the FA Cup? Don't think so. Arguably Luiz best two performances were against City and Chelsea. And what would our finances be like without European football with no match day income?

Remember when Liverpool signed James Milner and we laughed at what a s*** signing it was. At the time Liverpool were a europa league club with a pretty s*** squad

He played a part in getting them into the top 4 and they've built from that. He's still the with another PL medal and a CL medal in his locker.

It's not, but when you look at our track record, and Willian's age, it doesn't fill you with heaps of confidence that it'll work out.

Luiz performed well in many big games and was crucial to our post-lockdown form after the Man City debacle. But he has conceded the most penalties in a season by a single player, he has also been rash and put in some stinkers. Which is why I'm saying it's a stretch to say he's been a success.

He's no doubt a popular figure in the dressing room, displayed leadership qualities and helped the younger players integrate into the first team - all of which shouldn't be understated - but based on his entire season with us from what he's done on the pitch, it's hard to give him more than a 6.5/10 overall.

Dubbed, Milner being a great signing for Liverpool doesn't mean Willian will be for us. One thing that everyone knows Milner will guarantee is work-rate every single game. Willian isn't that reliable.

Arteta really wants Wiliian. Samir. I think he knows what he is doing. Got to give him the benefit of the doubt. Arteta was the one who pushed for Luiz to get a new contract when Edu/Raul had doubts. He's just won a trophy after 6 months into the job. tbh I have to believe he has a plan and understands the team/squad/dressing room dynamics more than us.
