With Bayern`s complete humilation

Bayern have always been and will always be European contenders, but the Bundesliga will not be dominating anything.

Bayern are a European heavyweight and always will be. The rest of the Bundesliga is not that good. Leipzig have built a very good team and have an excellent manager but this season will be a flash in the pan for them as their players and manager move on to bigger clubs over the next couple of years. Dortmund will always be a decent team but rarely get through to the latter stages of the CL.

I really like the Bundesliga as most teams are attack minded, but it will simply never be able to compete (Bayern aside) against the premier league and la Liga in the long term because of money.

If City get past Lyon then a win against Bayern won't be a massive shock. Bayern look formidable going forward but Barca could have had a few last night themselves. City will no doubt create against them, they just need to take those chances.

City's defence?

Conceded 6 goals but scored 37 since the restart in 12 games including matches against Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

Not saying City will beat Bayern but our injury ravaged defence only conceded 2 goals more than Livepool's last season and thery have the greatest defenders in the World according to the media and their fans.

The Bundesliga will be a one horse race for the forseeable future. Bayern have very deep pockets as they're bankrolled by Audi and Addidas, they can just buy anyone in Germany they want.

Liverpool win the PL at a canter and it shows the league is weak.

Bayern win the Bundesliga at a canter but the Bundesliga will dominate Europe?

Seems an odd assertion.

City will beat Bayern. Barca is so easy to get it for teams who are quick in the counter, these days. Both Bayern and City can also struggle against these teams but both have the same threat themselves. I'd be surprised if City don't win it.

It's exactly because of money that they can compete.

The reckless and irresponsible spending of the English club and the general basket casery of the big spanish clubs mean that Germany will always be a force.

High quality teams and players, superb stadia with amazing crowds and atmospheres, brilliant transport and infrastructure and very reasonable ticket prices mean that the Bundesliga beats the EPL on almost every count.

Top two teams in Europe are Liverpool and City. The former are the current European champions for a reason.

Bayern are blatantly a level above Liverpool this season. We were able to compete with Liverpool every time we played against you this season but were battered twice by Bayern who also battered Tottenham and Barcelona. Liverpool lost home and away to Atletico, who were beaten by Leipzig who are inferior to Bayern.

Yeah, the reason is they won the last CL, but were beaten home and away by Atletico Madrid (who are nowhere near as good as they were a few years ago) this season. So no, Liverpool aren't the best team in Europe and neither is City.

They that if Bayern beat City it will make the PL look weak (which it is) since Liverpool will have lost home and away to Atletico and City will have been battered by Bayern.

Bayern weren’t any kind of a big deal until Branko Zebec and then Udo Lattek turned up and turned them into a winning machine in the late 1960s. They were pretty much nobodies for two thirds of the 20th century.

They were pretty dominant (although not by today’s standards) for more or less 25 years before imploding in the 1990s, then rebuilding in the 2000s. Since then they’ve more or less completely dominated German football, obviously.

But they certainly haven’t always been a German giant, never mind a European giant. And they won’t necessarily always be.

Look at what happened to Milan, St Étienne, Benfica (in the 90s and 2000s), and, of course, the dippers.

Yeah of course. Even worse was the one above that claimed he'd be "surprised" if City lost to Bayern which is of course patently nonsense. They're trying to project the image "the team we finished far above in the league are the favorites for the CL....doesn't this make us awesome and the real bestest team in Europe?". Cos it's obviously nonsense to claim you'd be "surprised" if City.lose to Bayern. City can certainly beat Bayern, but they're not favorites in any way and Bayern have been a comfortably superior side this season.

0-3 vs Juve (2017)
0-3 vs Roma (2018)
0-3 vs Liverpool (2019)
2-8 vs Bayern (2020)

That's 3 different sides that have convincingly dumped Barca out of the CL in 3 straight years.

None of whom went on to build anything out of it.

I wouldn't start making any knee-jerk predictions about Bayern's future just yet.

posted on 15/8/20

Bayern have looked superb, however it wouldn't be surprised at all if City, if they get through tonight, beat them. City on their day can and will beat anyone. City have the pace and guile to hurt that high Bayern defensive line.

This mantra that the English league is weak is based purely on the fact that Liverpool have romped to the title 😂

And the Busby years, of course. But yes, the general point remains.

There are very few clubs that could be considered all-time giants. State-sponsored Real Madrid, of course. Benfica barring the 20-year blip, and Juve.

Even Barcelona won next to nothing barring a few cups in the 60s, 70s and 80s.
