Interesting that Fred starts. A bit more energy in the middle but not as good as Matic in positional play IMO.

Stupid decision to drop Romero, he’s done nothing wrong. De Gea has been crap for a good 2 years now and comes straight back in for what exactly?

Possibly. Crossed my mind when he didn't play in the FA Cup s/f.

Henderson isn't coming back be 3rd choice.

Romero should leave and deserves regular football

He's not good enough to be number one for Man United, so I guess leaving is his best option if he wants to play every week

Think Romero has around 40 clean sheets in 60 games...

Romero is nowhere near as good as some of you guys think. He rarely has to make a save, due to the level of opposition he is selected against but when he does come under pressure, he's far from convincing.

Regardless, I can see sense in picking DDG here, in spite of his own poor form, purely for psychological purposes. Restoring the first choice keeper for this game sends a message to the team that this is a game Ole really wants to win and that could just give us a little extra motivation

Maybe a cockier 'no 2' will put more pressure on De Gea than the perennial reserve Romero (who I think is deserving of being the No1 somewhere now)

I'm wondering if we'll go a bit longer today down the channels. Pogba could also press forward from our goal kicks to offer a physical presence. Fred gives us more energy but less control. Perhaps that's the plan?

its a kick in the knackers for Romero.

And a show of confidence in DDG by Ole

Not sure why Fred has become a starter in the last couple of games ahead of Matic as the DM, bit strange especially as he is the player of all our squad that takes the longes to get himself into form.

Decent line up though, should be a tough game but we’ve got every chance of progressing.

having seen fred's shooting, i think i know which one i'd prefer

New season isn’t far off and we need a confident de Gea. Correct decision to play him, albeit not without risk. Good man management from Ole.

Matic has been less than convincing since he signed his deal (shock!) and he probably needs a rest since he played the majority of our matches in the league.

Only 2 ga,e slept though, and he’s had 2 or 3 weeks off now. I think even McT compliments a duo of Pogba and Bruno better than Fred to be honest.

Yeah he has been sleeping through our games tbf
