Keane was actually shipped back after half a season! I was made up when we got him. Same with Morientes. And I always held high hopes for Babel, even as it started to become more obvious that it wasn't working out for him.
Collymore
He was some player for forest
Kewell a good shout too
R Keane was shiite for us despite his limited appearances.
I can't actually believe how bad Balotelli was, decent first touch and that's about it 🤣
Diouf after all that hype and not signing Anelka.
Lesser extent was Mark Gonzalez was hyped up but never lived up to the billing.

Thiught Collymore was good but could have been much better. Think he scored close to 40 goals in two seasons.
He was a record 8.5m back then. Couldn't hack it at a big club.
Career ended short too. He never showed his Forest form. Might have been because Fowler was so good. I think he needed to be the main man
Nuri Sahin for me.
Was over the moon we were able to get him on loan, thought he’d control so many games for us. Was back at Madrid in January.
Andy Carroll? Dunno what you guys thought of him before or after.

Keita, Minamino
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Happy with Keita. Never heard of Minamino before we signed him.
Moreno of all for me. Thought he had all the tools to be one of the best left backs in the world when he was at Sevilla, was delighted when we signed him and he scored that worldie at Spurs. Dreadful player in reality.
Oh and Markovic
What an absolute wasted.

Yeah. I tipped him to be Spain's left back for years. He never matured.

Never heard of him before he signed but houllier claimed he was the next zidane
Aquilani
One of Rafas more expensive signings and flopped completely. Looked decent in patches but never settled and always injured

Aquilani was a strange one as everytime he actually played, he played well. Too many injuries and was too much of a luxury player however, great on the ball, not so good off it.
At least we didn't have to pay his optional add ons

Very true
To get him for £4.25m and optional addons worked out a good deal as we made that back in loans to Juventus and Milan.
Kewell - absolutely agree. Was so excited by his arrival but he just never got going, mainly due to the injuries.
Paul Ince - not so much because of his performances, I think most of us knew his best days were behind him, but because of the influence I thought he'd have on the rest of the team. We had talent but lacked leadership and a winning mentality; I thought Ince would bring that.
Heskey - wasn't excited at all when he joined, then at the beginning of his first full season he looked the complete CF - strong, quick, got goals, combined well with Owen. Then after about 15 games he forgot that he could do all that and went back to being a bit rubbish.
Benteke - we signed a striker with EPL experience, who had a 1 in 2 record in the English game and who, at 24, should be entering his prime years. Seems ludicrous to say now but I thought we had a 20 goal a year striker
Totally agree with all of yours btw TOOR - just putting a few more forward. There have been lots of disappointing signing as a Liverpool fan!
Actually, going back a few years - Ian Rush. When we resigned him from Juve I was overjoyed but he was never the same player really.
Rush scored 30 league goals in 42 games when back on loan then 90 in 245 after that, which considering much of those 245 he was past his prime, that's some going.
Although I never saw Rush is his prime, I only saw the old rush, with not much pace but a good finisher, having been born in 85. Rush was 35 by the time he left if I remember right, around 1996, the year we won the league Cup against Bolton. Think McManaman scored the goals and McAteer played for Bolton, before we signed him.

The loan season was great, I was talking about when we brought him back in 88. He was still pretty much in his prime then (27) but never hit the heights of pre-Juve.
To give some context I was 10 when he signed for Juve and I cried when my dad told me we'd sold him Perhaps a touch naively I expected him to be the player he was 2 seasons ago but it never seemed quite the same, even when he was scoring. At the time (keep in mind I was 12!) I thought Beardsley and Rush would be just as good as KK and Rush.
