maybe. He was bang average last season, but best of luck to him. If we can get Taglafico in for 30m, I feel it will be an upgrade.

Good luck Ben, hope you live up to your own hype.

I actually think he will grow into a very good left back. In the end, he's a competent full back, who has to improve his attacking but will give more solidity to our back four. Remember that united paid 50m for Wan-Bissaka last year, so I don't see it as bad business.

Considering we were supposedly only going to sell him for £70m just a few weeks ago, £45m + add ons feels a bit... underwhelming. Still a good deal for the club and I'm not at all convinced that he'll be a success but I still feel we should have played hardball more.

Suspect we could have demanded more if we'd held on to that Champions League place... an extra £20m or so in lost revenue we can add to the £60m we've already missed out on

I feel this is almost backwards. He’s incompetent defending but is excellent at surging forward (despite poor crossing).

It’s amazing how many pundits I’ve heard suggest he is good defensively. Ashley Cole being the most embarrassing

So this deal is likely worth £65m with £50 up front. With Gray looking like he’s following out the door that gives us a £70m war chest to build a squad for Europe.

New left back, striker to support a Vardy and wide player a must. Premier league ready with experience. Then, sprinkle in 2-3 squad additions and we’ll hopefully be set for the season.

Lots to achieve in just 3 weeks!!!

Is it? Everywhere’s saying it’ll be just £50m.

I don’t give a fluke whether there are add ons, if we get 60/70 million for Chilwell and Gray it comfortably trumps Drinkwater or Maguire

Not as fussed about a new striker - new left back (although I really do think Thomas can progress this year) and creative dribbler is a priority

Think you have this back to front????? He is decent bombing forward (albeit he will stop and turnaround and pass back most of the time lol) but his defensive aspect of the game leaves a lot to be desired.

True, it’s really good business for Leicester. Will be interesting to see what you do in the market this summer. You don’t need too many signing to go straight into the first eleven, but there’s clearly a lack of depth. Which will be important with Europa, where you could get a tough group if you end up in pot 3.

What are you expecting in terms of signings?

Many places are speculating £50m correct. But nobody actually knows. I’m piecing together a few different sources and making my own conclusions but no official details have been released.

TalkSPORT and BBC radio earlier both said the deal is 50 plus add ons. No idea if it’s true, but they probably know more than us

Oh Jesus, Chelsea fans on TalkSPORT are comparing him to being the new Ashley Cole now :/

posted on 26/8/20

Ahhh I see. Whether there are or not it’s still an incredible deal. You’re brilliant at getting big money for your players.

Too many criticisms but I feel the deal is good for both sides. 50m for Leicester is fabulous but Chelsea were in desperate need for a left back and Chilwell could well develop into a top player. It's far too early to compare him to anybody, but there are very few decent defenders available these days.

I know Leicester should target his side when we play Chelsea.

Lets hope we have Ricardo back when we play Chelsea. He will tear Chilly a new one

Leicester asking price was around £80m. Chelsea got it down to £45m (still overpriced though). There is a premium price for English players (especially if playing for your country). That said still bit of good business by Leicester. Lampard wanted him, so the club backed him.

Personally, I have my doubts about his overall ability to play at the highest level, but I’ll be glad to be proven wrong.

I doubt whether any Foxes fan will be disappointed with this deal, Lamps must see something that we couldn't - speedy England left back, completely incapable of crossing and useless at defending - in no way can he be considered as suitable to improve Chelsea.

So do we wish Chilwell well, or ill?

Personally, I would be quite happy to see him fail as I can’t help but feel his arrogance outweighs his ability. However, I may just be being harsh and he’s just young and immature (as we all were* once).

* are always

Wish him well. Just don't see that Chelsea have got bang for their bucks.

You will get the Chelsea lads in here saying we’re all bitter as he’s leaving. Really not bothered he’s gone, average player and 50 million is a fee you cannot turn down for him really.

I notice Vardy has got a new contract as well today extended by a year. I hope we get some bodies in soon, we need squad depth desperately with Europa League football next season.
