Jeez someone help the Rev out here folks, is not like Boris is signing.
Morning Rev. For me it looks like another likely poor signing. In the same mould as Bostock was. We have made some good signings so far. However this just seems like filler to me. There is nothing about his history that excites me. Of course there is always the slim chance we have unearthed a gem.
Someone like Jacob Murphy seems more exciting and seems likely to improve our team.
However it seems we are going to continue to buy Benfica rejects that don’t improve our team at all!
Bit of a yawn signing really, management still don't seem to understand what it takes to get promoted.
I strongly disagree that Bostock was a poor signing. He wasn’t given the chances that da Costa, diakhaby, Yates, Semedo were. I think that if he had been he could have done ok.
Colback and Taylor are good signings, I’ve seen them play, they are better than what we had last season. Bachirou, Blackett, maybe Freeman, and Paredes who knows. But we should not dismiss them before they have had a run in the side.
As always I am optimistic. Very optimistic.
Bachirou will probably fill in when Sow is injured, which Is pretty often, not exactly an ‘inspirational’ signing, to say the least, not sure if we paid a fee, though I did see 600,000 (pounds or Euros, I’m not sure), mentioned. Guess we will have to wait and see. Murphy and/or Ojo would definitely gives us width. Things seem to be progressing, off the pitch at least, without breaking the bank, but tbh no one is spending much atm. Two poor defeats so far probably don’t count for much, WBA will show where are really at. News of some guy called Tavares (not the pop group of the 70’s) from Benfica also being talked about. I’d love us to keep Cash, the thought of being feeder teams for the likes of Sheff U and Villa unfortunately shows the gap, but I suppose £15m would have to be seen, reluctantly, as good business, though as stated I’d sooner he stayed, sell Worrall, but we would be lucky to get £10m in the current market. Keep what we have, strengthen and again we’ll probably be challengers, certainly not relegation fodder.
I’d sooner we look for hungry home grown talent than for cheap castoffs from abroad
It’s always a gamble, and the jury will be out - he may turn out to be a decent backup - but we’ll see
I wonder what’s happening with Watson?
Thanks Dave Tavares, not Paredes which is what I put. While you were thinking 70s pop sensation I was thinking Vanessa Paradis, 80s popstar and ex Mrs Johnny Depp.
Luke Freeman looks like he is on the way, much more the sort of player we should be looking at, even better, doesn’t include Matty Cash in the deal. That is definitely a more ‘inspirational’ signing.
Yeah I agree, Freeman is a much better prospect. Has actually done well playing in the championship. If Chris Wilder thought he was decent enough for the prem then he must be half decent.

I am not slagging him off, he was ok when he played. I just felt from the moment we signed him he was not going to add anything we didn’t already have. I think that was shown over the season too.
Freeman is a very good signing 👍
I’ve been impressed with all the signings tbh.
*Blackett - Championship exp. / Free
*Colback - Championship exp. / Free / Ex-Player
*Freeman - Championship exp. / Loan
*Taylor - Championship exp. / Free
*Bachirou - who knows? Either way, he’s loved in Sweden. We could certainly sell him back if he flops.
I’d still expect us to bring in:
G - Back-up for Samba. Smith 3rd choice.
RW - Murphy on loan. That would be outstanding.
Then, a possibility of:
LB - Whilst Bong looked poor, we have Blackett and Colback that could fill in.
CM - If Watson goes we might see one more?
AM - Unlikely, as Freeman / Lolley could play there.
After that. I wouldn’t care if we brought in Tavares or the whole Bencica reserves. Cracking transfer business imo.
Free seems the common teem, go dogs
Igor, free is the way nearly all teams are going, certainly from the Championship down, even the big boys aren’t paying totally stupid money, £41m for Ake £50m for Chilwell are the Highest I currently know of. Sure there will be some more cash splashed but nothing like in previous seasons. £15m should be an absolute steal for the likes of Cash, English, young, home grown and an exciting talent, same for Worrall at £10m, but even the big boys are no longer rushing in. Yes in the short term we will need the money, but it’s great to see players like Cash progress, and who knows if we get promoted in the not too distant future, we will have money to spend like Villa for example. There are some fantastic free/loan deals to be had, Freeman proves that, you just have to get the right one at the right time.
