I’m 37, play vets football at a low standard, haven’t played a single second of professional football in my life or could ever dream of it, and I honestly think I would be an upgrade on Serge Aurier.
We’ve got a really good deal here. Proven PL player with a few years left in him at a very affordable price. Not sure how Levy achieved it but well done to the man. He isn’t unwanted at Wolves, their fans are mostly upset that he’s going.
Look at just how many of our attacks went down the right hand side post-lockdown. It’s our key attacking outlet. Yet time and time again Serge would mess up the cross. Jose has said a few times that his plan is to use RB as an outlet and have Davies tuck in as a third CB when this happens. So we’ve got a better player for Jose’s system who can deliver a better ball. He’ll Almost play as a wing back in a back four.
As someone said about Hojlberg, 7/10 player but a 9/10 signing. It’s similar here.
Really happy about it

Having watched him play about half of his 250 odd games he's developed from a good solidly defensive right back to an exceptional attacking right wing back, via a strange spell when Paul Lambert thought he was a left back. (Whilst he had Coady playing RB incidentally).
Over the last three seasons under Nuno he's improved exponentially. He's definitely benefited from having better players around him, he's been fitter too, doesn't get injured and his touch is very good. He gets in the right positions out wide, not blisteringly fast but finds space well. He's added goals to his game too over the last two seasons.
Defensively he's solid, rarely gets caught out of position or on the wrong side. We'll be sad to see him go. A small vocal group of Wolves fans knock him purely because he was signed by Mick McCarthy, ergo he's a talent-less clogger, which is reactionary nonsense.

Nice summary.
Haven't seen him anywhere near as much as you but have always been impressed when I have. I do think if he was from Brazil then people would be raving about him. His attacking output is excellent. The goal he scored v city in the 3-2 win springs to mind.
I think he'd be an excellent signing and would be given license to bomb on whilst Davies tucks in. I'm very surprised Wolves are willing to let him go particularly if the replacement is Maitland Niles.

Slow/immobile, can’t carry ball, doesn’t have good vision/creative passing, not stand out defensively. Doherty lacks Alonso’s good shooting technique
----------------------------------------------------------------------
None of this is true.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So he is fast, a good dribbler, is a good creative passer, is stand out defensively and as good as Alonso at shooting technique? Alright
So it’s slow or fast there’s no middle ground
I don’t think saying Doherty is slow is outrageous, but there you go.

It’s not if it’s your opinion but I think someone disagreeing doesn’t automatically mean they think he is fast.
He could ( and this what I think ) he has a okay bit of pace.

Doherty reminds me of Alonso. Occasional ability to get into good positions for goals/assists and so can get into these positions more for as a wingback. Passed this what is there? Slow/immobile, can’t carry ball, doesn’t have good vision/creative passing, not stand out defensively. Doherty lacks Alonso’s good shooting technique
