If City are reportedly trying to sign him on a 2 yr contract, it’s a no brainier. £100mill wage is worth it, just for the potential to bring the CL trophy and the world wide fans. Transfer fee will be a bit much but again something that City will have to do. However Barca should let him go on a free for the services he’s provided.
I wonder what having Messi is worth to a club?
For Man City, it would elevate them from an international standpoint, it could win them back titles, sell shirts and have a real long term impact for the club.
I believe FFP is essentially being written off this season too due to the pandemic. CIty are the only club who tick all the boxes and it would seem a no brainer if Messi really wants out.
He really would be scarily good for City too under Pep.
KDB would probably end the season with 30+ assists

Will probably end up with him being first 1 million a week player, with a new contract at Barca
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As daft as it sounds, I think they would be better off starting again without him. They need a rebuild and there is no point doing it now and then having to restructure the team again in a few years. It might do them more good in the long run if he were to leave.

Whilst I agree in principal that Barca should let him go on a free, I can't see it happening. Maybe if it was a different summer, but not with the financial impact that COVID has had.

Nah, unless he was way past his best, with their debt, they'd be stupid to.
They owe Messi nothing, he's handsomely paid and without Barca paying for his steroid treatment he'd be in Argentina still.
Most bookies are giving around evens that he stays at Barca. Really tempted to lump on.

If City want him, they should demand every penny of the 700 million!
I honestly think the only club to make any money out of bringing Messi in would be Liverpool (but only if on a free transfer).
The long standing joke about making money back on shirt sales would stand Liverpool in good stead with their Nike deal. Also there would have to be other sponsorship deals that Liverpool have a knack of legally getting top dollar for.
All that being said, I think he will end up @ City (I hope not) and will win them their first CL.
£1m per week is a stupidly obscene amount of money in this current climate and TBH, any UK team paying that really needs to get their priorities in order.
The thing is Messi while still world class and arguably still the best in the world is not what he used to be.
He is no longer head and shoulders above the rest. I don’t think he guarantees trophies like he used to.
He really would be scarily good for City too under Pep.

.........................
Or it could work the other way. KDB could get less as the focus goes through Messi more than him.

And I don't care what any one says it will be harder for him in the Premiership.Windy nights at Stoke or not.

Not really, there was one early on he shown VVD too much of the ball but he wasn’t the reason they went out, he’s the reason they should have sailed through at 3-0 up.
Even then, at 3-0 up with our without messi you shouldn’t be going away and losing 4-0, you have a foot in the final against Spurs. It was a freak game and not down to Messi.
Nah but you put him in that city team and they’ll blow a lot of teams away.
