It would take a very brave person to write Liverpool off!.
Hmmm i do think the lack of board backing will affect Liverpool. Players are a year older and have achieved their main aims of PL and CL and the squad has lost a dressing room leader in Lovren and the only signing is a guy i've never heard of as cover.
I think we will find out pretty quickly if the hunger is still there, if it is you should still win it because City imo are a worse squad now than they were last season and United won't be in the running for the Title.
We are in same position as last season where if we keep the key players fit then we are looking at 90 plus points. Squad has improved with left back cover but we are not a CB light meaning Fab will have to drop back if needed.
I do expect City to be a lot closer and United and Chelsea will get more than 66 points.
Chelsea the dark horse but how cohesive will they be after buying half a team. They should be ready for next season though.
Seems to be the same reasoning, no freshness added to the squad with key signings, its notoriously hard to retain the prem. Its hard as we saw with City last season to maintain hunger and our points average thats been what 2.57ppg? Also the competition to be a lot better, city to be hungry to get back, chelsea utd strenghtening in the market spending a lot. Theres also a target on the champions back now, lot of teams always seemed to up their game vs us anyway now with the added champions to the scalp.
All fair points, but if we can maintain those levels and keep our key players fit for full season again you can't write us off.
first neville is a moron. anyone with a bit of rationality can see theres massive issues at utd. They've got all carried away with one midfielder and a front 3 that benefitted. they absolutely ran into a wall last season and lost both cups they were in for. Martial, pogba, matic will all let them down. De gea will let them down. pure and simple.
B) 99 points and 100 points and 98 points. its only a few games going against you to be at 90 points. we had an astonishing run last year. the target should be 90 not anything higher.
c) hunger is a question. you cannot assume it you have to prove it time and again. we have not exactly covered ourselves in glory very much since march. we have to start tomorrow and act like we've won nothing.
d) what have city done? torres and Ake. does that transform their squad form 81 points back to 100 points? who knows. I doubt it. they need to do more.
e) cheslea are far more impressive movers and shakers
finally.
we WILL be third. it patently obvious the squad won't last the pace expected. a couple injuries up front and its all over. we all know that so lets see what happens i suppose.
I am sure it is based on history. It is seen as one of the hardest things to do, to retain a title. Also hitting high 90s 3 seasons in a row is very difficult. You only have to look at Citys drop off to see that.
The lack of signings make Liverpool less interesting to the pundits. They would rather talk about how much Chelsea have improved, how Beeky will transform United even more than Bruno etc. Teams who make most signings are always more of a discussion point.
If Liverpool had signed Thiago I am sure there would be more enthusiastic talk about Liverpool.
I don't think hunger will be an issue. The incentive is to win it with the fans (depending on Covid). That will motivate them.
It is more games in a short space of time so players like Mini, Origi, Shaq will need to pitch in.
The midfield rotates seamlessly
Defence all pins on one guy being fit.
As I said on my predictions 20/21 thread, I personally think Liverpool will win it again.
City haven't done enough for me. Their defence still looks poor, they need to replace David Silva and keep KdB fit. Jesus isn't good enough over a long run of games, so Aguero needs to be fit and available more often than not.
Foden and Bernardo Silva need to step up for them to usurp the Red Scouse.

are there massive issues?
i dont think there are, the club now seems to have a vision of where they want to go in terms of signings and a way of playing, in fact i'd go as far as to say Utd look more of a danger now than they have since Fergie retired,
post covid
post lockdown we picked up more points than any other team bar city, so id suggest its you who needs to take of the hatred blinkers and become more rational.
add the signing of DVB giving us more opptions in the middle ( so we are less over reliant on the likes of Fernandes and Pogba) and no doubt more incomings, we will more than likely be a bigger threat this season.
over the last couple of seasons liverpool have been quite lucky in terms of injuries to key players, will be interesting to see what will happen if those injuries come to the likes of VVD, TAA, salah or mane
I can’t stand Liverpool. We all know that.
But I too, even with my bias, am stunned at the drop off suggested by pundits about Liverpool.
Sure it’s opinion, but the way I see it.
I’m not looking at post-lockdown, the league was wrapped up virtually. Can’t blame Liverpool for stepping off the gas. That’s everyone else’s fault for being wack competition.
Liverpool have been on a tear for almost 3 years.
I don’t see them dropping 20-25 points, and likewise I don’t see a 25-30 pt swing from the others.
Close the gap, sure. Liverpool drop more points. Sure.
I have ‘Pool finishing 2nd. City winning it.
liverpool should win the league this year. Ridiculous to not have them favourites. I wouldn't say a huge portion of people think they will not either.
Chris waddle has had one

The punditry scene is getting more crowded every year, an element is them wanting to say something different just to get noticed more.
I’d go off the odds from bookies instead, who still have you and us as the top two.
Joleon Lescott is clearly the best pundit about.
3 people have Chelsea in 2nd. Funnily enough all 3 were paid by Chelsea at some stage of their career

Id agree with that. Id have us just sneaking it ahead of city but again no issues with those feeling city will pip us.
Think its forgotten that this squad, and some of the squad players that are being written off have all at some stage over the last 2 seasons chipped in with big moments for the team. For me this is still a very very strong squad.

Yeah which is why I said it’s an element. I don’t think many actually are writing Liverpool off, I was just referring to the ones the OP must have been listening to.
Think Chris Waddle is a bit optimistic. I'd be delighted, but think United will be looking at around the 80pt mark, which won't be enough.
80 PTs would be a good good season.
On here means nothing. Bookies have us second favourites and I feel there is a lot more that can go wrong at City than their is with us.

That said, Liverpool regressing wouldn’t be a surprise. I think they actually did last season, despite getting more points than the year before, and it’d be surprising if the rest of the league is as bad as it was last year. The schedule could make it harder to maintain the levels they were at the last two seasons. But even with this they could still win the league as City still have issues.
Wait?...wait.. is that possible?
To regress while getting more points than the season before?!
I mean, I barely entertain the idea UTD were over the hill suddenly in 2013, when they won the Legaue.
