Wait?...wait.. is that possible?
To regress while getting more points than the season before?!
I mean, I barely entertain the idea UTD were over the hill suddenly in 2013, when they won the Legaue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only sign of regression was after lockdown and when the league was won.

of course its possible.
you won the league and you were deserved champions, but you werent pushed by any stretch.
city dropped more points than in previous seasons and you had no real threat and in effect no real pressure.
i thought you looked better in the way you played in the previous seasons, last season at times you ground out results ( the mark of a good championship winning side) rather than blowing teams off the park like you had been doing previously

a lot of people are still in denial.
look harshly at he squad.
evra, vidic, giggs, rvp all on the wrong side of 30. inferior players like jones and rafael playing.
utd were ready for a new man to bring in a few players but they got moyes and felliani.
the damage was done by the higher ups that didn't understand the squad position and the backing a new man needed
add in 3 regressive managers and the damage was massive.
The AMOUNT of mancs saying matic will be great this year as well. pure denial. the guy is seriously slowed down and won't cope with the games.

I think they did. Even if that lack of intensity due to being so far ahead is the reason - I’m not sure it is - that’s still a regression. The quality of their performances was not as good as it was the year before when they pushed City and won the CL. The competition was also weaker. I don’t think this is particularly controversial. I was saying as such all season after watching their games.
It’s similar to us in 2013. We were a better in 2012 when we lost the title to City on gd. Even though we walked it the following year.

we were very lucky in our last season under Fergie to win the league.
the only reason we won the title that season was because we signed RVP, that simple.
No one is, i think most people have you as favourites. theres at least 2 seasons left in this group.

We are just not newsworthy at the moment due to being quiet in the market.
Not saying we will win it but I do think we will be there or thereabouts with city.
I dont think any of the others will threaten, maybe Chelsea but it is a big ask to integrate so many new signings at one go.
Yes I know the window is open but for United to come through it would require a massive points overhaul on 2 teams and I dont see it happening.
I’d be surprised if you aren’t there or thereabouts this season.
Not sure City are any stronger this season either.

May be so but we have plenty of strength in depth in midfield that be able to cope without Hendo. The drop off in performance when Hendo is not playing is not necessarily due to a drop in quality.
So, maybe the OP is suffering withdrawal symptoms, I see, hmmm.
Can’t handle the pressure of Top Dog. Missing the old pal Under. Guess it became like a warm blanket. But 30 years a long time, Different feeling being the League Champion. Very different.

Nice strawman. I have not said that Henderson lack quality and that it's only his work rate is worthy of mention.
What I am trying to say is that, twe have plenty of strength in depth in midfield. We don't have that same strength in depth across the front 3 or across defence.
The gap in quality between Henderson and Keita (as an example) is not as significant as the gap between TAA and Williams/Milner/Gomes.
But our record without Henderson is truly woeful.

With Hendo:
Games: 65
Wins: 48
Draws: 11
Defeats: 6
Points per game: 2.38
Win rate: 73.8%
Goals per game: 1.98
Goals against per game: 0.7
Without Hendo:

Wins: 29
Draws: 5
Defeats: 9
Points per game: 2.13
Win rate: 67.4%

Worse without Hendo, but definitely not woeful.
