Talking of neighbours...

My next door neighbour's wife died last week and he's just asked me to help him access her laptop and change the settings. He wanted me to disable the 'P0rnography' filter because 'what else am I going to do for the next few months...'
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure whether this makes you a honourable neighbour or a shameless online pawn addict!!!!!!

disclaimer: fully aware it's not spelt that way. The other way is banned (as Mrs Dunne often says!!).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I really was lost for words! His wife is hardly cold.

I had a neighbour once in a similar situation who lost his partner. Thereafter, he became besties with the street walkers. Maybe I should have shown him how to watch pawn on his computer instead

You shouldn't be snitching on your neighbours at all. imagine you did snitch and you have to live next door to that person for good knows how long with some crazy tension between yourselves, because the gov said so.
It will likely boil over at some point resulting in something which was totally avoidable.

I wouldn't snitch. And it is an absolute joke that they are bringing in this rule when the are sending kids to school, the pubs are open, you can eat in a restaurant, go pheasant shooting, have your eyebrows done etc. etc. People are coming into contact with each other all over the place.

We should either have a proper lock down, or say feck it, carry on as normal and those that are considered high risk should self isolate until we have a vaccine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't agree with this at all.

Surely there has to be a sliding scale of measures if the economy is to survive?

The all or nothing approach would be catastrophic for so many people.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What percentage of people that aren't high risk are dying?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Eh?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a simple question.

Yes but I fail to see the relevance.

Perhaps you could just make your point, rather than me guessing what it is and being told you didn’t say that.

Oh I see, so because there's a low risk of young people dying, young people should be allowed their freedom?
+++

Yes, that is how many 'young' people see it.

So. Don't kill you own mum/granny should be the stark message the government pushes. As this is the reality.

Why we need a rule of 6. If not less.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can't kill the those that are high risk if they are isolating. Which is why I said the high risk should still isolate until there is a vaccine.

Listen mate, if you have a point to make why not just make it? The discussion would be a lot easier.

I did in my first post on the thread. Let those that are high risk continue to isolate. This new groups of 6 rule is pointless when people are mixing in all of those other situations. Especially pubs and restaurants. I was out at the weekend and the social distancing just goes out of the window once people have had a few pints. These are the places where the spread is most likely.

Okay, well your reply to me seemed a bit cryptic!

So how long are we going to lock up these poor, vulnerable people?

You really think that’s fair, just because you want to get together in a big group?

Until there is a vaccine or they run out of food and starve to death.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I would think that most vulnerable people are still isolating themselves as it is. I know that the majority of the people that are know are still isolating. And they would have to continue to isolate until there is a vaccine.

And it isn't just so that I can meet up in a group. That doesn't really bother me. I just think it is a bit ridiculous when you can do something like go pheasant shooting, but you can't socialise with your family.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Those that are at high risk are at high risk. There isn't anything that we can do about that other than protect them. And they should also be given additional financial support where required.

I just feel that we are at the point now where the negative impact on the economy, healthcare, mental health etc. outweighs the good achieved from the current measures in place.

Well I agree that is ridiculous, but I never said otherwise.

If the change in rules doesn't bother you or affect you much then it's all good, isn't it.
