Ceballos is the closest thing we have to a functioning attacking midfielder. I've never understood why we play him so deep.
Everyone else just slinks away to the relative safety of the flanks whenever we get to within 35 yards of the opponent's goal.

because Xhaka is so slow at transitioning the ball from our defence to midfield. Ceballos is pretty much having to do two jobs at the moment. fek knows how good he would be with an actual DM next to him instead of that donkey xhaka

Ceballos just isn't very creative. He can release a player in space but just isn't very good at consistently breaking down defences.

Can't attack, can't defend, can't run with the ball, can't do anything more than 5-yard trampoline passes (other than the odd Jonjo Shelvey hollywood pass, of course).
I know he somehow makes our system tick, but I've never quite figured out what Xhaka does either.
Let's focus on the things he can do?
- Can give the ball away by passing straight to the opposition under no pressure at all.
- Can get tackled and lose possession spending too long on the ball.
- Can commit needless and/or reckless fouls.
- Can do all of the above in dangerous areas of the pitch which often leads to us conceding goals.
