All comes down to what happens in the next week. If no players are signed then why on earth was Martinez sold, from what I've seen he's better than Leno. Especially on crossing and his distribution is better. If nothing happens then if I was Arteta I would start to think about what I want to do long term, he's not a miracle worker he needs help.

Absolutely. The blame lies at Kroenkes feet as he has put no money into the club for what..5 years?!?!
We need to bite the bullet and just spend the 90 mill for Aouar and Partey. Who cares about FFP...City got away with it. Besides, if we get into CL, I think the money will significantly help with the losses which are amortized over the length of the contract anyways.
We are crying out for creativity and time to dish the back three. Play Elneny at the base of a midfield three with Xhaka and Ceballos or have xhaka and Elneney for a double pivot to allow Ceballos the number 10 role. In 30 mins, he split that pool defence numerous times and if not for Lacazette's atrocious finishing, would have nabbed an assist.
Harsh assessment, we were in the game right til near the end. Should have equalised and then l’pool are under real pressure. Ceballos should have started. L’pool obviously better team and took there chances. Hopefully we can bring in quality in the next 7 days.

I think we can agree to disagree. When I look at the game, we did not trouble their keeper or defense much at all. I struggle to think of a shot in anger minus the Laca mess up and the goal (which was very lucky for us).
I also struggle to think of one moment where Willian did something positive and he was at fault for the goal.
Anyways...for us to beat/draw pool, we have to be at our best and they have to not be at their best or make serious mistakes. Unfortunately, we could generate nothing going forward until Ceballos came on.
Leno didn't come for the ball because Luiz was in place for an easy header away. Unfortunately he unsurprisingly made a mess of it.
Actually yeah you're right, in hindsight Leno should have known Luiz isn't to be trusted with a straightforward piece of defending and come for it.
Also Laca really is a pretty average finisher. If he can't blast it or miskick it in then he won't score.
Think you’re dreaming if you think we are going to create lots of chances at Anfield against this L’pool team. Plan was always to soak up the pressure and counter then which we managed to do in a few occasions. Unfortunately you need to take those few chances you get against them. I agree with you on Willian , I’m not a big fan. Never wanted him , especially not for 3 yrs. but he’s here.
