Smart move for Villa.
Villa is Barkley's level.
this seems a very long time ago:
Martin Keown said, "He's young, but he'll be one of the best players of the game we'll ever see in this country."
Encouraging news for Gilmour, who has already shown to have more game intelligence, spatial awareness and mental capacity than Barkley on the pitch.
*better game intelligence
Downhill since he left Everton.
The new Joe Cole, Wilshire etc

He never really went uphill to begin with.
Decent move for him, i think he can add a different dimension to what villa have and hopefully ends up with is getting a good transfer fee at the end of it. Villa don't seem shy when it comes to spending money
He's just a bit boring isn't he, should be better at most things than he is because he has ability but doesn't put it together enough.
Everton fans can laugh at him now, a further step down.
Don’t really care. We have too many midfielders and someone had to go. I don’t mind getting rid of squad round the edges. We have a big squad but recently I just think it creates more headaches than strength right now. Need a clearer squad hierarchy
On a more general point Barkley definitely has (?has) some sort of potential to perform at a high level. The closest we saw was perhaps in his time at Everton. His two footedness, striking technique, passing range, agility mixed in with a strong frame, he has a lot of good tools. Just absolutely no consistency, poor decision making, poor concentration in games
On another point, we’ll done to Villa. Feel like Barkley and Traore in addition to keeping Grealish should be good for them. Unsure on Watkins for £30m though

He was going downhill before he left Everton. Another never has been hyped up by the English media because he doesn’t need 4 touches to control a football
I think this is a good move - for Barkley, Villa and Chelsea. He will get regular game time at Villa, and will enhance his value - something that won’t happen if he stays at Chelsea. As an attacking midfield player he is behind Mount, Havertz, CHO and the returning Pulisic and Ziyech.
Not sure what this means for RLC though?
In general I like Barkley but he's inconsistent. He can win you a game or make you lose your patience. I don't think he's any worse than a few other players in the squad but he's the victim of Mount being better than him and Havertz's signing. I think he could link up well with Grealish.
