It could very well work out but stinks of desperation to me.
If we really wanted Cavani we could have signed him months ago.
Problem is that Cavani is injury prone. Injury prone players and Manchester United aren’t a recipe for success.

If Cavani was the icing I'd be quite happy but it looks like he's the bloody cake! I've no qualms about buying an experienced player but this doesn't smack of being part of any proper planning.
I think bringing in experienced strikers is part of a longer term plan for Greenwood to transition to cf in the coming years. I have no problem with that, it’s a good idea. The problem is that the experienced strikers we’ve brought in are facking Ighalo and a crocked Cavani.
He might be injury prone but its not as if we would be reliant on him - we have 3 other options for the CF position.
What he is is a very good plan B when fit. Certainly a much, much better one than Ighalo who is starting to make my eyes bleed.
As long as it doesn't stop us getting our main targets (and I don't see why it would) then I dont really see anything wrong with this.
Mohamed Bouhafsi has confirmed it.
It’s happening.
Don’t know how I feel about this one.
Cavani’s had nine injuries in the last two years. Welcome to Manchester United.

he can keep dembele company on the treatment table.
i'll say this, if jose had brought in two backup strikers with a combined age of 64, he'd have been slaughtered.
oh, and you have to appreciate the irony of a club supposedly turning down one of the best young strikers in world football because of a buyout clause - "it would be the equivalent of a 2 year loan" - to then get in a couple of pensioners on a loan/short-term deal.
and if this is true, perhaps some of the talk - about the culture of the club changing/us learning from past mistakes/scouting players with the right attitude takes time - can cool a little.
Yeah Mourinho would have brought them in to start every game. Experienced strikers as squad players to take some pressure off our younger lads, and allow them to develop, is less of an issue. As I mentioned previously, the issue is which strikers are brought in.
