Agree totally with your assessment, but the Elephant in the room (pun intended), is the owner. How long will Chris Hughton be given, is there any room for investment, and then of course the question of how he fancies the squad he has inherited. The squad on paper is pretty good, but under Sabri seemed to lose motivation. If Hughton can establish his starting eleven soon, which I don’t think Sabri ever did, he should do well, the problem is if he feels he is still short in various positions, can we afford to bring more in ?? Yet again, interesting times, this could work well or crash and burn, only time will tell. My feeling is Chris will turn this round, but it may not be immediately. One last question, who will Chris want as his support staff. ??

Igor, I, along with most others, just hope he’s given time...something that’s not in abundance here at Forest

Personally, I couldn’t imagine anyone better to take on the Club at this point

Great appointment. He was poorly treated at newcastle and brighton. I wanted him for the ROI job

Lamouchi apparently has been courted for months by Qatar which might explain some of your results. He probably thinks he is safe from your gangster owner there. Forest's head of international recruitment was arrested in Paris this week and Forest have stopped all business with George Mendie. I expect George will be going in to witness protection.

Pity you wouldn't.

According to the latest article on the Athletic, Marinakis had a Zoom call with the whole squad & Manager post the Barnsley game. He ripped them up, told em that certain players had no future at the club.
The real problem here is Marinakis impatience & the people running the club, that is the Greeks, is the Chairman even still there?

To quote the great Gene Hackman in Hoosiers (wrong ball, but who cares), "Well, it's gotta work out this time, or that's it for good." Does ultimately come down to impulse control on the part of the bearded gorilla. As CH has enough decent Championship level players to choose from, a matter of leaving him alone to shape his team while suppressing the instinct to relocate him to the nearest canal upon the first setback. Best appointment in years.

One of the good guys is Hughton. Did a fantastic job at what was a difficult time in Newcastle’s history.

I can’t remember an appointment so universally approved of by the fans. At least, since I’ve been a fan.

It is a very sensible appointment in a very difficult time. He can manage, he can coach and he can get the job done. In time of course.

Billy Davies?
Stuart Pearce?
Colin Calderwood (ok, maybe not)

I suppose we're all the same with our clubs and new managers, out come the beer goggles and we don't reserve judgement.

I wasn’t happy with Billy Davies the 1sr time he was appointed as I just didn’t like the guy - however, my opinion of him changed over time, and he became the most successful manager we’d had since probably Paul Hart - by the end of his first reign here, I had totally changed my opinion of him and hoped he’d had stayed for much longer - in fact I was one of the small minority who actually was pleased to have him back for a 2nd stint, alothough that proved to be a total disaster

Stuart Oearce, I wasn’t happy at all with his appointment as it was made purely in the guys status at the club rather than any credibility - it became apparent after about 3 or 4 games that he really didn’t have much idea at all about how to go about the task (the Fulham game at home) about the 5th game of the season was the one where I knew he wouldn’t last long, even though we won it 5.3 - it was by pure luck, and showed his managerial flaws

Colin Calderwood - I didn’t know anything about him as a manager so wasn’t bothered either way - ssinf think he was the best, but at least he got us out of League 2

Great appointment and probably the best that was available.

He will be given at least two seasons: Autumn and winter.

As stated above, the feeling behind the Stuart Pearce appointment was made largely on the guy’s status with the Club and not on his managerial capability - I was very dubious about him coming back, because although it seemed like a fairytale scenario, and the atmosphere at that opening game was something totally unique...it was only a matter of time before the results were going to take priority over sentiment, and once that happened, it was only a matter of time before people realised that even the great Stuart Pearce didn’t have what it takes

Loads of people has reservations about Pearce as we all knew it would end in tears and he wasn’t really up to it as a manager. And obviously lots of us thought Davies part 2 was a bad idea! Colin Calderwood was a neutral one as he was hardly an exciting prospect although a safe pair of hands. This feels totally different. Just a shame he’s got 0 points on the board and an inflated squad to sort out
