Feel a bit sorry for pogba, hes been touted as a top central midfielder and he's just not disciplined enough to be that player. He's always been at his best when he had the excellent midfielders around him, Pirlo etc.
He's obviously a great player but just not the kind of player to command a midfield like Keane or Alonso for example.
Further forward, less responsibility to worry about the space behind him, that's where he'd thrive, he's brilliant naturally in the moment if you get me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with this really - he is more a victim of the shiiiiitshow around him. It’s a bit worrying how unversatile he is but he has frequently proven how good he is in the right system. Ozil is more disappointing, played in the right system countless times, even under Wenger who is the king of making lightweight attacking players look great and never really shone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah for sure id pick pogba over Ozil every time.
Imagine the pair of them in midfield as a two

This is just a small list of things that WB2 hates less than Ozil. So a reaction like that is normal when you throw in poor old Harry Maguire to the fray
Difficult one but has to be Ozil. At least Pogba is available to play and sometimes decides he would like to move across the pitch. Ozil is happy to sit it out and pick up his paycheck. Plus Arsenal have a poor midfield and still Ozil can't get in it.
I think both Ozil and Pogba have been unfairly treated at their respective clubs. Ozil maybe moreso than Pogba.
That's not to say they are completely blameless but overall the clubs are the ones that are the main issue imo.
Fees aside how do you play Pogba in a MF 2 with likes of Matic? Sure his effort could be more but it's not going to get the best out of the player who has shown good signs
Ozil was given a contract by Arsenal. Why should he simply walk away at the age of 31? Statistically he has done pretty well in terms of goals and assists etc in a side that hasn't always had the calibre of players a club of that size deserves imo.
Iirc in one season, 16/17? Statistically Ozil was second only to monreal in terms of running etc
Both players came with reputations where clubs got the best out of them, and tbf arsene didn't do too badly with Ozil. To completely change their position or a style of play that suits them and then to say they flopped is unfair. Especially when the world and his dog knows that, for example Pogba isnt a player you put in a 2 with Matic. That's before you even address the mediocrity he has had around him in other positions

Wow.
Think it was a couple of seasons ago Pogba summed up exactly what was wrong with him. He was on the deck and the ball came down towards him, he controlled it perfectly, from a seated position, which was a great piece of skill. He got up, ran a few yards, well something that resembled running and then passed it straight to the opposition. Then walked back as the opposition countered. I believe they scored also but I'm not 100% on that.

Pogba doesn't play in a two. He plays in a three, with Fernandes ahead of him and one other. Pogba however has everything you'd want in a box to box midfielder, to play in a two, ability wise. He just doesn't want to do part of what is required. It's effort, not ability.

Pogba is versatile, which is why he gets moved around into different roles in the midfield. The problem has to do with what you say, but he’s also just an inconsistent footballer.
Ozil’s played well more consistently in their time in the prem.
Pogba has talent no doubt, but he’d had a farcical career imo in terms of people believing he is a main reason for his teams successes.
He played in a one team league with Marchisio, Vidal and facking Pirlo, and because he scored a couple bangers people though he’s world class.
He was then imo probably the 8th or 9th best player in a french World Cup winning team.
The guy has talent but he’s more a better taraabt or someone (can’t think of a better example right now).
Hazard comes toi d as a player who was being stifled and told to run back. He was not doing so well. New manager comes in says stay up there son and do your magic, has a great season and gets sold for megabucks
It's not rocket science to observe a player over many years and see their strengths and weaknesses.
I used to play cricket to a reasonable level. I was always opening bateman or one down. I just didn't have the smash and grab approach. More building a steady innings. New manager comes in puts me at number 8. We are losing and need quick runs. Comes to me with a few overs left and says off you go son. I said look send in x as he will be more beneficial in getting quick runs. He says I'm the boss out you go. We lose the match and he has a go at me and says you needed to go out there and have a swing. Chairman sacked him saying not only does he not play at 8 but he told you

But he didn't play further forward for Juventus. He played in what you're now calling a two. Only they played with one behind him, instead of one ahead of him. They normally played a 4-3-1-2 system and in his last season they had switched to a 3-5-2 system with Pogba left of the midfield three, Pirlo or Marchiso(sp) centre and Khedira IIRC right.

The information supports my point. I’ve also seen it. He’s playing in deeper areas of the pitch for United than he was at Juve, especially under Ole where he’s often coming deeper than Matic.
Pogba at Juve was part of a system that allowed him to get forward.
It was also helped by tevez? Dropping deep

The information supports my point. I’ve also seen it. He’s playing in deeper areas of the pitch for United than he was at Juve, especially under Ole where he’s often coming deeper than Matic.

Pogba at Juve was part of a system that allowed him to get forward.
