Thought you'd picked four up front too for a minute!

I'd leave out Kazim Richards n hope TL and Waggy can switch it about a bit like Knight and TL did early doors.

Not perfect but neither are Forest, I'm still sticking with Phil but have a feeling it might get worse before it gets better and not sure MM or the Derby fans stomach's are up for it.

I have just discovered that Huddersfield did not have a match thread of their own. We were it! We should have been more welcoming to those less fortunate than ourselves.

We are just sulking after the last 2 seasons

It shows how clueless our manager is when he took off Shinnie and left Bird on.

He hadn't even been booked!

Leave Holmes alone!

He was great in his first season and performed well in a few roles RW, AM, LW, RB. Since the loss of his friend and the poor team performances morale is expected to dip.

I really like Holmes, decent, honest player and definitely does not deserve to be compared to Anya

He was just misunderstood and needed a Scottish arm around his shoulders.

I doubt that subbing Bird rather than Shinnie would have made any difference tonight.

If you were an analyst of a club about to play Derby and were asked to identify Derby’s attacking threats, what would you say?

They have no big lad up front so don’t worry about letting crosses come in.
They are no threat from corners.
The Polish lad is tricky, might want to double up on him.
The Welsh lad ALWAYS cuts in on his right. Don’t let him do that and he won’t hurt you.
They have no midfield runners breaking past the striker.
They haven’t got any pace in the side so you can push up a bit if you want.
If Rooney’s playing, try not to concede free-kicks within twenty five yards.

That’s about it boss.

Sorry Duane, didn't realise it was you.

Sorry but you have been terrible for ages.

You're being generous Vidals. I spoke to a fella who was doing some tactical analysis for Reading.

He said "stop Derby playing in front of the CB's" that's it. 😔

Very low on hope right now, this is usually when the footballing God's take pity on me though n surprise me with something special, that I could not foresee, just to raise my spirits again in time for another knockdown and kick in the ribs, head and eggplant.

Come on God let's be having you.

When 2W is resorting to divine intervention things are bad.

It looks a workmanlike performance on the highlights and that offside decision was just ridiculous. It was as if the linesman had been asleep when the pass was made and he just woke up to see a Derby player in an offside position. He was well onside when the pass was made. There were good moments and a lot of creativity and energy. We simply need to be patient - same old, same old I know but things will come good soon I feel sure. Hopefully on Friday v Forest.

Not a lot is going to change when your manager thinks the team is playing well and are just unlucky

More of the same to come I'm afraid

I dont see how he can get of this continuing with his current style of play and the chances of him changing the style is slim to none

The outcome is inevitable

That linesman should be banned from ever working again.

Just watched the highlights. Je.zuz that offside call was incredibly poor.

Could we have stopped Bacuna for the goal if midfield busted a gut or a little harsh?

Play seems laboured, very slow, sluggish, whether that's a confidence issue? Pressing from the team too - their right back runs into our area and had an opportunity to shoot without anyone pressing him tight.

Not seen the poor FK and corners in the second half but this is definitely something we need to be taking better advantage of - I think over the seasons, Lampard's set pet play tactics offered us more ( or due to the quality of Wilson's deliveries).

Are Max Bird's set play qualities generally good? I did wonder with TL taken off who would be our set piece taker and hadn't considered Bird.

I think it's time to go 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 with our attackers returning, give Max Bird a breather and have Shinnie and Knight in the middle. Any news on when Sibley might be returning?

I'd like to see TL used in the middle with Holmes and Jozwiak on the flanks.

A difficult set of fixtures coming up when confidence is low - if Cocu can get a couple of wins, fantastic, if not then who can we expect to work some magic?

* Judas McClaren
* Paul Cook
* Darren Wassall (cheapest option)
* Big Sam
* Big Ron
* Pullis
*Pep Clotet
*Mick McCarthy
*Poyet
*Paulo Di Canio

* Mauricio Pochettino
* Arsene Wenger - master of developing youth in the Arsenal side
*Leonardo Jardim

* Lee Johnson
* Nigel Adkins
*Mark Hughes

Mel has gone for recently retired midfielders turned coach for his last two appointments:

Xabi Alonso ?
Clarence Seedorf?

(some are tongue in cheek suggestions, I know most of you would know this, but for those that missed that I stating it here for you).

Top cold in Derby for that southern softy... Remember him at Burnley

I agreed with Cocu that we played well first half. I also agreed with him that our set-piece delivery was terrible. There was an element of bad luck, or rather a bad error by the official, with the offside decision. Taken in isolation we can take these sort of matches on the chin as part of the rough and smooth but it's clear there is a pattern and the stats don't lie when it comes to goals scored and chances created.

Is it the players or the manager? It's easy to say sack the manager but then what? Pay him and his staff off. Is that affordable? Then what? Offer Rooney the job? Wassall? Cook?

I quite like a lot of the play but we peter out near the opposing box. Maybe if we had fantastic forward quality our tactics would work - a solid defensive base and let the magicians do their stuff - but at present we don't. Is there a combination that would be good enough: as Desi suggested a front four of Ibe, Lawrence, Jozwiak and Waghorn, or is that just wishful thinking? If not then a radical change is needed which would get more players more quickly into attacking positions. That's risky which isn't in Cocu's nature but as it is we are just getting picked off by average opponents as in the last two games.

Given the finances and the very positive effect Cocu has had on the Academy players, and the various off-the-field issues he has had to contend with and which he has borne with such dignity then I think he at least deserves the chance to see how the team performs when it something close to full strength. I wouldn't say I have great confidence about that but there must be at least a chance. It wouldn't be the first time that things have looked beyond salvage but have then turned round. Friday looks a bit like D-day though.

Speaking to a Forest supporting acquaintance and they are surprisingly nervous about Friday. Their view is that we will come right at some point and there must be a reaction to last night, a "bounce-back" if you like, and when better. It will be interesting!
