We'd need an extraordinary amount of luck to win it. I have little faith in the coaching ability of Carrick and McKenna.
Hopefully they prove me wrong.

Agreed but numerous teams have got that extraordinary amount of luck in the CL.
I agree. What's the point of aiming for a place in it and then saying we have no chance.
The money side of it is for the board not fans.
We have some top players, and à record of doing well if thought an underdog.
Other teams can surely win it, and so can we.
Real are 3-0 down at half time.

Crazy.
They are an average enough side right now that I can’t see getting any better without serious investment.
One win vs a depleted PSG side and our deluded fans are thinking about winning CL
Real also resting lots of players
Lets get out of the group first then we can explore the possibilities of winning the cl.

Oh christ. Get lost.
We have a punchers chance in this season's CL if we hit form at the right time and get a bit of luck. We'd need our players on top of their games but it isn't impossible. In fact I'd say it's more likely for us to win the CL than PL at present.

Could well backfire for them as it’s not the easiest of groups. Shaktar are probably the weakest team in it.
I agree one game at the time I just don’t agree with the no hoper argument.

Now I don’t want to sound deluded but I don’t necessarily agree with that.

Don’t get your point there.

One win against last year's finalists, and the display we put on, rightly encourages us to dream of glory. Or to write a sour two line response saying other fans are deluded. I know which camp I prefer.

You really are a to$$er.
My argument is that the Champions League is a lottery and the best team in Europe doesn’t always win it.
------------------------
Its very rare for a side who aren't arguably one of the top 3 teams in Europe to win it though. In the last 20 years I reckon that's happened 3 times - Porto in 04, Liverpool in 05 and Chelsea in 2012.
Its cup football so its not impossible. But the chances are very very slim.
3-2 now
This coming after shaktra could have been 4 -1 up. The two Shakter strikers got greedy and fluffed the chance. Small teams and their mentality eh?

Imagine if Ole and this United team won it after all the great teams Fergie had, winning it "only" twice.

Just shows how much of a lottery the CL can be.
Because it’s a bit silly to disagree that we have no chance of winning the CL if you yourself don’t think we’ll come close.

I don’t think we will as we aren’t one of the top sides but we have a slim chance.
Some are saying there is no chance.
many worse teams than ours currently have won it in the last 10-20 years
Real were hardly the best team in Europe despite winning it 3 times on the bounce, Chelsea, pool in 05, porto, even when Bayern won it v dortmund.
depends who you get in the knockouts, squad availability etc.
its more than likely to be won by one of the better sides of course, but this season with everything going on, it really could be a cr@pshoot
The lottery thing is a bit overstated imo, when was the last time a comparatively poor side won the CL? Chelsea in 2012? It can happen but most of the time you need to be a top side to navigate through so many tough fixtures
